Guest guest
Coconuts Fall-Fishes Flee What do we do when coconuts fall? we gather them and use it for consumption. The sound of the fall of coconuts, however instill fear and make the fishes flee. Where does this happen? IN 'vaN purudOtham' of thiru-nAngUr. The areca nut groves are amidst high rise coconut trees. These Coconut trees overlook the breezy ponds. These coconuts fall on the water and the big din alarm the fish habitating in the water. These creatures immediately jump off and race away to a safer haven, thinking that the sound is from an entity which advance for devouring them. This is depicted by thirumangi mannan in "vaN purudOthamam' pAsuram "...pALai vAn kamukUDuyar thengin van pazham vEzha, veruvip pOi, vALai pAi thadam sUzhtharu nAngUr vaN purudOthamamEA' 4-2-8; vanamamalai padmanabhan
