Guest guest
srimathey ramanujaya namaha! adiyen ramanuja dasaha! Jai Srimannarayana Dear Sri Sadagopan Swami, Just saw your comments on the email that you sent to all the discussion groups. I think the intent and the content of the response that appeared in seems to have been "miss-understood". Here is the summary of what I grasped from the response.......... 1]]]] Firstly the response was from Srikaryam Swami. As you probably know HH Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji has devotees are spread across all the continents and some of them are highly realized and knowledgeable acharya purushas. HH's devotees/ Srikaryam swamis travel around and provide us the actual 'in-the-field' opinions. Some of HH Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji's sishyas evolved into Sri Jeeyar Swamiji's themselves who provide guidance too from time to time at various places throughout. 2]]]] I think we all should address as HH Sri Jeeyar Swamis and not just Jeeyars. It seems little odd and slightly disrespectful, especially to outsiders. 3]]]] The content of the response seems to have slightly misunderstood and there are several answers provided to us in such a short paragraph. 4]]]] Swami Vedanta Desikacharya always stood guard to Ramanuja Sampradaya. If you look at the life history and works of Swami Vedanta Desikacharya including geethardha taatparya deepika etc, you would know He protected Swami Ramanujacharya's works, commentaries almost laying a fence, paths, tributaries and providing microscope like devices where needed. This He did to protect and safeguard the Ramanuja Sampradayam. It was never the intent of Swami Vedanta Desikacharya to start another Sampradayam of His own. He (Swami Vedanta Desikacharya) always wanted to be associated as a devotee of swami ramanujachayra only. This is evident from His works, actions and His deeds and everything that is available today. 5]]]] There is nothing like Desika sampradaya, Desika siddhantham etc etc etc. There is only one 'Ramanuja Sampradayam' 6]]]] There have been efforts by a few devotees/vested interests to create separate tags/nomenclature. A few people are now branding themselves as followers of 'Desika Sampradaya'. This I have seen at so many temples. I met several devotees in India, US, UK and Australia. This is how they introduced themselves ---- "Hello, adiyen is a Iyengar. adiyen and family are followers of Desika Sampradayam, and you probably belong to the tennacharya sampradayam" 7]]]] As can be seen from point 6 above we are creating boundaries around ourselves and dividing and seggregating ourselves. This is wrong and should be fixed immediately. We should stop branding ourselves as desika sampradayam etc etc. We all belong to Ramanuja Samparadayam. We all should be united. We all should protect, practise and propagate in a united manner as we all belong to ONE sampradayam - The Ramanuja Sampradayam' . This is exactly the message I got from the response of Srikaryam Swami as called out. 8]]]] Every effort by each one of us should be made so as to identify ourselves and call ourselves followers of Ramauja Sampradayam only and no other confusing terms should be used or introduced or brandings done. Any works are commentaries of the great devotees of Swami Ramanujacharya, when being explained should be clearly linked back to the Swami Ramanujacharya Himself and His works so that it leaves no doubt or leaves no gaps in the mind of people listening or people trying to grasp. 9]]]] As most devotees have an acharya even the 'Yatis' of ramanuja sampradayam should not call themselves by other names and make sure they have the Jeeyar Swamijis in their title. As you can see people are already confused and asking why are some yatis called something else and why don't they have 'Jeeyar' in their title. All the Yatis should do anything and everything to protect and unite ramanuja sampradayam and support all such programs underway. I pray once again to all the devotees to remember that we all belong to the ramanuja Sampradayam and we all belong to one community. Let us not create the concept of two eyes, one view etc etc. Let us not divide but unite as we all belong to ONE sampradayam, ramanuja sampradayam. Let us not try to criticize greatest devotees of Swami Ramanujacharya but support each other in these testing times when massive Tsunamis, internal and external, are trying to wipe out our Vedic Culture. My dasohams to holy feet of all great devotees. adiyen ramanuja dasaha ramanujadasa Raghuram Mudumbai RD | 408 480 4004 | raghu.mudumbai | Sadagopan <sgopan@c...> Wed Feb 2, 2005 11:23 am Re: [sriParakalaMatham] Fwd: [Jeeyar Educational Trust] Digest Number 1049 Dear Sri VenkatEsaa Iyengar : You have asked for readers" comments regarding the Q&A excerpts from HH Chinna Jeeyar's corrspondence . Although the subject matter is controversial and can generate lot more heat than light , I am responding to your request because of your many services to unite Sri VaishNava Kulam thru MahA Sudarsana Yaj~nam & other tireless kaimkaryams . Here is my input : I am surprised at the answer from HH the Jeeyar for the question from a devotee . I totally disagree with the misrepresentation of facts embedded in the answer . This answer does not help to unite . It only aggravates the unfortunate existing divisions . Vadakalai and TennAchArya SamprahdAyam are the two eyes of Sri VaishNavam . You do not hurt one eye to nourish the other . Both are vital for proper sight and both are rooted in Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntham . To say that "Vadakalai people want to seperate them (?) from the main stream " is confusing and distorting the facts on ground . Swamy Desikan was a contemproary of Swamy PiLLailOkAcchAr and was highly respected by the latter . In the battle at Srirangam (Muslim invasion ) , one died and the other nearly died . Swamy Desikan escaped death and left for Melkote . During that difficult journey , Swamy Desikan carried the Commentary of Sri Bhaashyam by Sri Sudarsana Soori with him and saved that Sri Bhaashyam commentary for posterity . Where will all Sri VaishNavAs be , if we had lost Srutha PrakAsika at Srirangam ? , How can one describe such a Mahaan as not having respect for Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntham ? Swamy Desikan's life was centered around studying Sri BhAshyam , performing KaalakshEpam on it 30 times in his life to his disciples ; He wrote AdhikaraNa SaarAvaLi to explain it and used Sankalpa SooryOdhayam, Para Matha Bhangam , Tatthva Muktha KalApam , SarvArTa Siddhi to defend Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntham . In the last slOkam of Sri RanganAtha PaadhukA Sahasram , Swamy Desikan pays His tremendous tribute to the power of YathirAja Sookthis . Swamy Desikan extolls further the power of YathirAja Sookthis with 74 SlOkams in YathirAja Sapthathi . How can he be accused of making his own brand of Desika Darsanam and downplay Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntham . He recognized the main stream of Bhagavath RaamAnuja Siddhantham and immersed in it all his life and celebrated that BhAgyam thru his Sri Sookthis and bequeathed it for all of us as Kula dhanam . By the way , the bhirudhu for Vadakalai AchAryAs is " Bhagavath RaamAnuja SiddhAntha NirdhAraNa Saarvabhouma " . It is incorrect hence to say that Vadakalai people follow only VedAntha Desika and not Bhagavath RaamAnuja . Swamy Desikan exemplified Bhakthi for AchArya RaamAnuja all his life and he would have considered himself as a fish out of water , if he had no RaamAnuja Sambhandham . That goes for all Vadakalai sampradhAyains . Exclusivity of one sampradhAyam as belonging to Bhagavath RaamAnuja and building the case on this ricketty foundation is divisive in my humble opinion and does not serve any useful purpose. Let us all be proud of belonging to the Sri VaishNava Kulam that starts with the Dhivya Dampathis down to present day AchAryAs . There are not too many VaishNavAs in the world anyway and let us unite them instead of dividing them . adiyEn requests the revered Jeeyar to help heal these wounds .
