Guest guest
Dear Sri Vaishnava Perunthagaiyeer Adiyen request you to clarify the following doubts: 1. Why Sri Vaishnavas shall not eat Onion and Drumstick? Is there any special reason behind this? After Samasrayanam I have stopped taking food cooked outside i.e. hotels and in abrahmanas houses, if in vaishnavite houses no onions and drumstick. But I have been mocked for sudden change in my food habits.. please clarify 2. if a lady is under her menstrual circle – she is not allowed to enter inside the house for 3 days and perform day to day work for 3 days. But now-a-days ladies after taking bath, do all work including cooking – but hide the Perumal Sannadhi with screen at their houses!! Is it good? In our houses, we follow the old practices which was followed from our paatti kalam. 3. Recently I had the bagyam of doing Srivari service at Thirumalai. One of the duty is adoring the baghavathas with Thirunamam kappu. But the Thirunama kalavai (white) provided to us was prepared with Plaster of paris and Srisurnam was with local red powder .. it made me sad .. but I could not help. We get thiruman – sri surnam from the shops at Sri Rangam Koil. Please let me know how is thiruman made up of – what is the material used for the real thiruman - we - sri vaishnavites use? If adiyen know, adiyen can procure pure Thiruman and take along with me for distribution when adiyen go for service during this month end. Hope adiyen's ques would be clarified suitably. Thanks a lot in advance. Adiyen ramanuja dasan
Guest guest
Dear Sri Vaishnava: I will resopond to your question to start the discussions . Others are requested to add their inputs . But I > have been mocked for sudden change in my food habits.. please clarify Sri Vaishnavas seek a Saathvic life . Food ingredients take an active part in this scheme of maintaining that Saathvic status . Saathvic food helps to develop Satthva GuNam . Onion , Garlic , Drum stick etc have been included in the list of vegetables as unacceptable by our ancestors , who lived long disease free lives . Most of our AchAryAs lived over the Veda PrAyam of 100 years thru such regulated lives . Swamy Desikan's aahara Niyamam is the best text on Nishiddha annams ( not trecommended foods ) . It was written in 13th century . It still holds good. > 2. if a lady is under her menstrual circle - she is not > allowed to enter inside the house for 3 days and perform day to day > work for 3 days. It is good that you are following the old customs although it is becoming difficult in modern day city-based , apartment style living with both spouses going to work . In the old time , there were seperate rooms in the section of the houses and support system were available to provide meals etc . This is increasingly diffiuclt these days . The best compromise is for the ladies to stay away from the room , where pooja graham is and let the husband of the house or male members take care of nivEdhanam etc . dhyAnam and mental worship is fine during this time . > 3. I am not too familiar with the above service . Why can not BhagavathAs adorn their own ThirumaNN Kaappu ? The ingredients that you refer to are harmful to place for extended periods on the forehead . > > We get thiruman - sri surnam from the shops at Sri Rangam Koil. > Please let me know how is thiruman made up of - what is the material > used for the real thiruman - we - sri vaishnavites use? Thirumannn is a sacred clay , white clay from specific places like Melkote in Karnataka , the best among . Clay is a comples silicate mineral . Geologists and mineral engineering people can throw more light . I am sure that it can be synthesized . The powdered version available in stores is brighter and I have an intution that it is synthetic . > > If adiyen know, adiyen can procure pure Thiruman and take along > with me for distribution when adiyen go for service during this > month end. Depending on where you are living , you can get ThirumaNN at the shops near ParthasArathy Temple at Triplicane , Melkote , Srivilliputthur et al. > > Hope adiyen's ques would be clarified suitably. > > Thanks a lot in advance. > > Adiyen ramanuja dasan > > > > > Links > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
namasthe I am not well versed with language e of philosophy .So whatever knowledge and with some experience I am trying to answer sreemathi chitra’s 3 answers. Sir, I would like to be checked by sir 1. Any religion or ‘ism is for spiritual discipline and sadhana to reach particular deity or reach goal. In srivaishnavism Sreeman lakshmi narayan is goal .To reach him/his abode one has to work hard as we hard to pass tough or challenging exam and take pride in it. Now, coming to diet, lord sreeman narayan is saatvika roopam to please or to attain we have to as per his thathvam, ALL attribute of sreeman narayan are saatvikam so It becomes primary duty to follow all saathvik diet, behavioral pattern etc., etc. Diet recommended to srivaishnavaites is totally saathvik science too has proven it. Once we sure about our goal, rest is immaterial. 2. 3 days is rest for a lady of the house and also scientifically proven that it has all negative energies so it affect even the food items . So it is just precaution for the health of the lady as uterus also becomes delicate as well as back and spine as well as to retain sanctity of pooja room.(as we consider our pooja place temple as far as out house is concerned) If, we want something to be achieved few sacrifices and ritual r to be followed by overlooking few or minimize our wishes (it can b e anything) 3. I t may be mistake which might be out of ignorance, but still if we think it is prasadam and not think ill of this devotee is probably right approach, Nowadays all r bent upon duping one another so at least we as shrivaishnavaites can always think positively and let all positive energies in universe to flow to help others who think or try to do good deeds to help all pranamams krishnapriya chitra_vidya <chitra_vidya > wrote: Dear Sri Vaishnava PerunthagaiyeerAdiyen request you to clarify the following doubts:1.
