Guest guest
Srimathey Raamanujaya nama: Dear Sri Vaishnava Perunthagayeer Can any one clarify why unmarried ladies are not eligible to wear "Madisaaru" 9 yards saree? Is there any significant reason on this issue? Earlier unmarried women were not eligible for Samasrayanam ...but now our Acharyans based on the eligibility and willingness - do perform samasrayanam to unmarried ladies... Likewise is it right - if an unmarried woman wears 9 yards during special occasions like ... visit to Divya Desams / Achaaryan's Darshan / thiruvadhyanam day ...and / or any other special days, etc.?? Thankful to have your valuable clarification. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan
Guest guest
Dear Devotee: Men after marriage change from TattAdai ( Brahmachari Vesham) to Pancha Kaccham , the approved dress code ( 10 by 6 ) for VaishNavAs and other aasthikAs doing Vaidhika karmAs . In a similar manner , the saha dharma chAriNi( the wife) assisting in Vaidhika karmAs shifts to wearing the nine instad of six yards colored saree and wears ThirumaNN with Sri ChoorNam . Many of the Vaidhika karamaas also invole Agni for offering Havis . Loose flowing (moving) garments are a hazard for pursuit of such activities . During the monthly asoucham , the married ladies in aasthika families stay outside of the main living quarters and shift to wearing Saree as they used to during their nonmarried days . Nowadays , it is a different story in a life dominated by City living . When one goes to the temple and goes to visit AchAryan , then the usage of 9 yards for married ladies and Pancha Kaccham for married men are required .
