Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara MunayE namaha Sri Vanachala mahA munayE namaha “parai kolvan endru yAm vandhOm” (we have come here today to get the ‘parai’); “vunnai aruthiththu vandhOm” (we have come requesting your self); Both these were the statements of andal. Krishna enquired, aren’t your words contradicting? For what purpose have you actually come in front of my house and are you waking me up for? Andal replied, “Oh! Lord requesting for ‘parai’ is just eyewash for the satisfaction of the elders but our actual purpose is to attain your divine feet. You have removed all the great hurdles, should we say anything about the small hindrances that come in the way? So please do the needy and grant us the required” How did krishna overcome the big hurdles? “oruththi maganAi pirandhu …..karuththai pizhaipiththa kanjan vayiRRil neruppenna nindra nedumAlE” We all are born in this world due to karma but emperuman who is never affected by any karma takes birth due to this ultimate grace on all the poor jeevatmas to uplift us from this ocean of samsara. While the vedhas say, “bahuthA vijAyathE” emperuman himself declares, “sambhavAmi” Azhvars wonders, “eththiram” “palpiravi perumAn” and “pirandhavArum”. But does he get affected due to this garbavAsam (being in the womb)? In most of the avataras he just jumps to this world “avairbhaviththAn”. Andal herself initially says, “ayarkulaththinil thOndriya” and “tORRamAi nindra” but these are not enough to show his greatness of leaving the divine world of paramapadam and coming here to take birth amidst these cruel jeevatmas so she says, “maganAi pirandhu”. Who is a son? One who obeys the words of his parents is called as a Son. Sri chakravarthi thirumagan went to the forest listening to the words of his father after 14 years (or is it to keep up satyam (truth)!) Is it anything great? Our kutti kannan listened to the words of his parents immediately after his birth. Due to the fear of kamsa, devaki and vasudeva requested krishna to hide his chaturbuja roopam and give darshan as a normal baby. Krishna did the same and fled from there to gokulam. What a perfect son he was! Unfortunately he is more popular as a butter thief, cheat, one who goes at the back of girls and so on leaving all his great qualities. Of course, rasikas like krishna leelas more than the perfect characterization of ramapiran with all good qualities. That is why andal says, “nedumAlE vunnai aruththiththu vandhOm paraitarudhiyAgil thiruthakka selvamum sEvagamum yAm pAdi varuththamum theerindhu magizhindhu” (To be continued) Azhvar emperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE sharaNam Adiyen ramanuja dAsee Sumithra Varadarajan
