Guest guest
Fire on All Cylinders. No it is not a typo. Firing on all cylinders indicates performing at full capacity. Sri thirumangai AzhwAr talks about Fire in all the four lines of a pAsuram in thiru-mozhi One cannot ignore this pAsuram while talking about 'agni' and correlating with our beloved Almighty. "nEr ahzalAi, nedunilanAi ninRAnai, anRArarakkar vUr azhalAl vuNdAnai kaNdAr pin kANAmEA, pEAr azhalAi peru-visumbai pin maRaiyOar mandhirathin, Ar azhalAl vuNdAnai kaNDadhu then arangathEa" Periya Thiru-mozhi 5-6-5; The first and the third line -terms are 'azhalAi'- The God's pervasion and form respectively. The second and fourth -terms are 'azhalAl' - the God using the fire as an agent. First line --nEr,azhalAi, nedu-nilanAi ninRAnai etc. mentions the Lord being present in all the five elements including fire. Second line -- arakkar vUr azhalAl vuNdAnai -- mentioning the burning of lanka by fire. Third line - pEar azhalAi peru-visumbAi-- The Lord's form as majestic and robust form of fire/sparkle -thEjas. Fourth line -- maRaiyOar mandhirathin Ar azhalAl vuNdAnai--Consuming the offerings of devotees through the agni of the hOmams-pUrnAhUthi. This pAsuram in fact deals in this aspect wonderfully and manifests each in a different context. Another masterpiece from kaliyan. That is thriumangai mannan again. dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
