Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-33 “adisagadam sAdi aravAti, Anai pidiththosiththu pEymulai nanjundu-vadipavaLa vAipinnai thOlikkA vallERReruththiruththu kOpinnumAnAn kurippu” In the previous paasuram, azhvar instructed all to prostrate the divine feet of emperuman, “adiadaiminO”. But will all the hindrances that had followed for so many janmas allow us from doing so? Thirumazhisai azhvar answers this question in this paasuram “When he is sarvasakthan, capable of removing all the obstacles like he did in the case of nappinnai piratti and others why should we worry?” (adisagadam sAdi) On the seventh day of his birth Sri Krishna killed sagadAsuran, by just kicking him with his small soft feet and protected himself for the welfare of all. (aravAtti) He danced on top of kaliya and sent kaliya from that place thereby saving everyone in gokulam from the poison of kaliya. Here periyavAchAn pillai’s commentary reads, “kaliyanai turaththi” that indicates that probably “aravatti” could be “aravOtti” (Anai pidiththosiththu) He stopped the big elephant kuvalayApeedam with just his hands and broke its tusk. (pEimulai nanjundu) He drank the poisoned milk from the breasts of bhoothanai, in the process drank her life. (vadipavala vAipinnaith thOlikkA vallERReruththiruththu) For the sake of nappinnai piratti who had beautiful coral-like lips and beautiful shoulders, he fought with seven strong oxen and got them into control. (adisagadam sAdi aravAtti) – virOdhi nirasanam –Winning over the enemy with the legs (divine feet) (Anai pidiththosiththu) – Victory for the divine hands (pEimulai nanjundu) – Victory for the divine mouth (vadipavaLa vAipinnai thOlikkA vallERReruththiruththu) – Victory for the whole body. For the rest, just one part of the body was enough but to get a priceless gift like nappinai emperuman felt that he had to strain his whole body. That shows his bhaktha vAtsalyam. (pinnum kurippu kOvAnAn) Emperuman did all these acts when he took avatara as krishna. But after returning back to his divine abode does he keep quiet? No emperuman rests as ksheerAbhdhi sAyee meditating only on the welfare of his bhakthas. During the avatara he got rid of the enemies by his physical activities but lying in parkadal he does the same with just his sankalpa (thought). “vellai vellaththin mEl oru pAmbhai meththaiyAga viriththu adhan mElE kalla nidhdhirai kolginra mArgam” (Periazhvar 5-1-7) “vurangu vAn pOl yOgu seidha perumAnai” (thiruvaimozhi 5-4-11) Even after returning back his svamithvam (quality of remaining a master) remains and hence he constantly meditates on protecting his slaves (bhakthas/seshans). So irrespective of him taking vibhavAvatara or remaining as vyuha moorthi emperuman is concerned with the welfare of his bhakthas so why should we worry’ enquires azhvar.
