The term 'oruvan' indicates a unique person in a high pedestal, with high qualities, proficient in the field -to be followed- a paragon,-a role model. When thiru-mangai AzhwAr talks of andhanan oruvan-the vyAkyAna-karthA sri periya-vAchAn piLLai, inter-alia describes the primary qualities of an andhanan to be termed as "oruvan" These are: - Expertise in dhvayam;(rahasyArthagaL) - Proficient in idhihAsa-purANam. - Specialisatin in nyAya-mEmAmsai - Spending one's life and time with aruLich-cheyal, day in and day out.
