PraNAms to Bhagavathas.

Azhwars have blessed us with PAsurams by reciting which we can praise

The Lord to our heart's full satisfaction. Essentially the pAsurams

are the essence of Vedas.Once we learn their full meanings, we get to

know so many facts about us, our lives and our relationship with

Sriman Narayana.

Tondaradippodi Azhwar in his wonderful work "ThirumAlai" 3rd pAsuram

has given us an excellent calculation about human being's life span.

Once we know the meaning, we will not waste and flitter away the very

limited time we are really bessed with.The pAsuram reads:

vEdam nool prAyam nooru manidhar tham puguvarAElum,

pAdhiyum urangi pOgum ninradhil padhinaiAndu,

pAEdhai pAlagan adhAgum piNi pasi mooppu thunbam,

AdhalAl piravi vAEndAEn arangamAnagarullanAE.

"Even if one lives full hundred years, as prescribed by VedAs for

human beings, half of it goes in sleeping. Of the balance (fifty

years), 15 years goes away as infant , childhood, youthful

activities, besides in illness, hunger, old age and sorrowful

days.Therefore, Oh, Lord RanganAtathA, I don't want this birth as a

human being."

What a great and irrefutable calculation, establishing, that

effectively we are left with only a short period (max of 35 years),

as per The AzhwaAr, which we have at our disposal.But we tend to

waste much of this limited time in most unwanted and trivial things,

without remembering The Lord, doing service to Him & BhAgavathAs and

reciting His Divya nAmas.

Let us therefore pray our Lord Sriman Narayana to Bless us to make the

right use of this most valuable human life and follow the advice of

our Azhwars & AchAryAs

Narayana.
