The most practical Divine Teachings of Lord Krishna to Arjuna -Srimad

Bhagavath Gita - is eternally relevant.The Lord's declaration of The

Universal Truth for people to adhere was made at Kurukshetra for the

benefit of entire humanity,with Arjuna as a pretext for teaching.The

Lord timed it so well at the battle field, where the war between

Dharma and Adharma was about to commence.

 

The conflict between good and bad is eternal in nature and even within

each one of us, the war is going on at all times.It is such a strong

and continuous struggle that often we lose our balance and get

confused & baffled to take the right decision. It is to resolve this

conflict The Lord has poured His Teachings. It is for us to learn and

lead our life as per His Dictums.

 

It is but natural that all of us at one point of time or other tend to

disbelieve that it is possible to adhere to The Divine Teaching - "Do

Your Duty at All Times without attachment toThe Fruits (Results &

Benefits) ".In fact we even question whether at all such a thing as

to act without expectation is possible, because there will not be any

inducing factor to do the duty when no benefit is to be expected.

 

The Lord has explained in detail without any ambiguity, that while

doing anything in expectation of result will have the risk of leading

to frustration, the same when done as a duty assigned without awaiting

eagerly for the fruits of action will lead to equanimity, thus

ensuring a balanced state of mind under all circumstances, which is

the quality of a True YOGI.

 

The following Sloka (Gita,Ch.2,Verse-38) when learnt,understood and

practiced should make us stronger to go along The Path of Lord's

Teachings.

 

Sukha dhukkAE samAE kruthvA lAbAlAbau jayAjayau

ThathO yuddhAya yujyasya naivam pApam avApsyasi.(Gita.2-38)

 

"Accepting 'happiness & unhappiness"," gain & loss" , "victory &

defeat " ,equally (meaning not being affected by the duals) you fight

(do your duty). You will not incur sin (meaning you will be rid of all

ill effects and frustration)."

 

On the face of it , it looks tough,nay an impossible one to practice.

But as we try and train our mind to move along the above path, we are

bound to feel the effectiveness of the essence of Karma Yoga (which is

the root to lead to the fruit of unqualified surrender to The Lord) in

improving the quality of our lives in this complex modern day tension

torn life.
