Bhattar asked his disciple Devappillai to go to another

place for helping Srivaishnavas there. Unable to bear

separation from his acharya, Devappillai stood hesitating.

 

Bhattar told him "Even if you are leaving me, you are

going for the benefit of others in this world. Therefore,

do not hesitate".

 

This event is also described at another place as follows:

 

Devappillai cried out saying "To see who else am I going

there, when you are my true relative?"

 

Bhattar replied "For Sri Rama, who took even the smallest

of beings along with Him to Srivaikuntam, it was not

difficult to take His children as well. Yet, He left them

behind, for the protection of this world. There are no

such people to do service where you are going.

Therefore, go there without worrying."
