Guest guest
Namo Narayana, I would like to know the rules and regulations for Sumangali Prarthanai. 1. On which days can it be performed ? 2. The significance - any supportings from the scriptures. 3. I heard that ladies who have had bharanyasam do not go for sumangali prarthanais in a home with different gotram - is it true ? is there any basis for it. I have not found too much material on sumangali prarthanai on the web. There are superficial references though. It would be nice if someone with the knowledge could write out about the aspects of sumangali Prarthanai. The customs in different families vary. However , the basic thread will be the same. It would serve as guidelines for this generation and the future to document this practice and put it on the net. Thanks and regards ramanuja dasi Mail Mobile Take Mail with you! Guest guest
Dear Srimathi Yamini Suresh : Sumangali PrArthana is a prayer to Sumangalis by Sumangalis prior to an auspicious celebration and Vaidhika Karma and especially an event with special relationship to Ladies ( Pumsavanam , SeemanthOnnayanam and VivAham) . It is carried out by a Sumangali , the ( woman) head of the household. A few sumangalis are invited ( mostly realtives) , dheepa Poojai is done , Sarees and blouse bits ( Ravikkai) are presented with ThAmboolam and Manjal (Turmeric) . The invited Sumangalis and girls/ladies are served special lunch with payasam , Vadai et al . Elder sumangalis are extended NamskaraNams and their benedictions (aaseervAdhams : dheerga Sumangali Bhava) are sought prior to their departure home . It is more or less a ladies' day . The customs vary at individual houeholds . Others are requested to share their family experinces.
