Guest guest
Dear srEvaishNavites, Sri SadagOpan swAmy goes on to relate the fact that Sri kaliyan rejects the worldly pleasures for its nature of ending up in disaster. Further, nElan reiterates that he also detests the cycle of births and deaths. The highlight in the final pAsuram is the desire for the Lord Oppiliappan. dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan Worldly Pleasures-Distress-Cycle of Births-Detested by AzhwAr. The Lord of Oppiliappan-Ultimate Desire by Sri Thirumangai mannan. In the next two Paasurams , Thirumangai rejects the PurushArTam ofKaamam and the dukkham associated with it and gives that as reason forrejecting the worldly life ( manai Vaazhkkai ) pursuing siRRinbham andsetting his mind on the pErinbham of ThiruviNNagarappan's darsanam andKaimkaryam to Him . The 8th Paasuram housing these thoughts takes this form:kaathal seythu iLayavar kalavi tarum , vEdanai vinai athu veruvathalAmaathalin unathu adi aNuhuvan nAnn , pOthalar nedumudip-PuNNiyanEANDAi unnaik-kaaNpathOr aruL yenakku aruLithiyElVENDEn manai Vaazhkayai ViNNagar mEyavanEOh ThiruviNNagarappaa ! As in the case of BhimasEna , who went thru manypainful difficulties in bringing the KalyANa Sougandhikam flowers from thegarden of KubEra to please his wife Draupathy , men waste their time to maketheir young women happy to win their hearts and to enjoy the resultingcarnalpleasures , which ultimately ends up in disappointment and sorrow . Thesearefrightening things ( athu veruvathalAm) . "iLayavar ( young women ) kaathalseythukalavi tarum ( through the act of expressing their carnal desires throughphysicalunion ) ultimately leads to suffering and sorrow thru obsessions anddisappointments .Therefore says Thirumangai in a mood of VivEkam that he would like to stayawayfrom the pursuit of such Kaamam ( distracting desires) and would preferthe adornment of the tall crown ( nedu mudi=TiruvabhishEkam ) ofThiruviNNagarappan ,which is the most appropriate place for those fragrant flowers to blossom ontime .Thirumangai begs the Lord to grant His darsanam and promises to give up allthe worldly pleasures .Periya Thirumozhi : 6.1.9****************************saathalum piRatthalum yenRu ivaRRaik-kaathal seyyAthu unn kazhal adainthEnOthal sey naan maRayAhi umbar aathal sey MoovuruvAnavanEANDAi unnaik-KaaNpathOr aruL yenakku aruLitiyElVENDEn maanai vaazhkkayai ViNNagar mEyavanEHere , Thirumangai rejects both Manushya Aanandam as well as the dEva janmamassociated with even superior pleasures ( " Indhira lOkam aaLum accuchvaipeRinum vENDEn " ) ." Thirumangai longed for only one soubhAgyam (viz).,the darsana soubhAgyam of ThiruviNNagarappan in His archaa stateat the dhivya dEsam of AakAsa Nagaram or VyOmapuri . Rest of the pleasureswere worthless blades of grass for him .With that conviction and VairAgyam , Thirumangai reveals to us the Phalan ofreciting his ten Paasurams on ThiruviNNagarappan prsiding over the dhivyadEsam adorned by fragrant flower gardens . Thirumangai states that those whorecite and reflect on the inner meanings of his ( pious poet's ) paasuramsset inTamil will be attracted to the sacred and beautiful feet of the Lord andwill staythere . In these beautiful Paasurams , Thirumangai instructed us on thehollownessof the worldly life and pointed out that the closeness to the Lord's sacredfeetis the only PurushArtam to seek for lasting sukham .Daasan , Oppiliappan Koil VaradAchAri SadagopanSrimate Sri Laksminrisimha Divya Paduka SevakaSrivan Satakopa Sri Narayana Yatindra Mahadesikaya Nama:
