Guest guest
Dear Sri Rangaswamy : It is very good to know that you are enjoying the Postings on Oppiliappan Paasurams of Thirumangai Mannan . The beauty of the Ubhaya VedAntham sampradhAyam of ours is the one on match between Sanskritic PrasthAna Thrayams and the AruLiccheyalkaL of AzhwArs . It is amazing to see the tight matches between the Tattvams , Hitham and PurushArTam elaborated by both taking their origin from the VedAs . Thirumangai states in these passurams " SiRanthEn NinnadikkE " , seRinthEn NinnadikkE " . adiyEn has arrived at Your PaadhAravindham ( reached the proximity of Your lotus feet ) . What is there at the lotus feet of the Lord that pulls Thirumangai ? It is the Paadhukais of the Lord , Swamy NammAzhwAr that pulls Thirumangai , the last of the AzhwArs to the CharaNAravindham of the Lord . One can relate Thirumangai 's paasurams to the PaadhukAs of the Lord . When one holds tight the sacred feet of the Lord adorning His Paadhukais (Swamy NammAzhwAr / SaThakOpan) , then the Lord --- --- our Parama Bhandhu, Sarva Seshi , Sarva LokEswaran , Sarva Karma SamArAdhyan , SubhAsraya dhivya MangaLa vigrahan, Samastha KalyANa guNa ParipoorNan , Nikhila dhOsha Rahithan , Sarva lOka samAsrayaNeeyan , SrIman NaarAyaNan , ThiruviNNagaappan -- -- can not escape us . He becomes transfixed and can not escape : " anathilankaneeyam hi charaNa grahaNam " . Our Lord , the parama dhayALu can not shake loose from the hold of the CharaNAgathan clinging tightly to His sacred feet .He has no recourse except to shower His anugraham . The SadAchAryan serving His paadha kamalam also intercedes . The beneficiary is the Jeevan that arrived at the ThiruvadivAram of the Lord and held on tightly to the Lord's holy feet . Kaliyan was just following the path shown by Swamy NammAzhwAr : " ninn semmA paadha-paRputtalai sErtthollai --- --- AmmA adiyEn vENDUvatheethE ". Here , Swamy NammAzhwAr reveals to the Lord that the only boon that He seeks is the pair of red lotus feet of the Lord . Nothing else is of any significance to Swamy NammAzhwAr . The Bhakthi for those Paadhams of the Lord is the supreme boon and rest are kshudhra phalans ( insignificant phalans ) . That is why it is said : TathpAaadha bhakthi JN~AnAbhyAm phalamanyath kadhAchana na yAchEth PurushO VishNum yAchannAnnasyathi dhruvam One should not ask the Lord or the AchAryans any thing except Jn~Anam and Bjakthi for the sacred feet of the Lord . Only alpa manushyAL ask for other things belittling their svaroopam (Svaroopa Viruttham ) . Asking for other things will interfere with Bjagavath anubhavam and create endless Paapams at the end through the growth of SamsAra Ruchi . That is why Thirumangai says time and again in ThiruviNNagara Paasurams : "VeNDEn Manai Vazhkai " , " SiRanthEn Ninnadikke ThiruviNNagar MeyavanE " . NaarAyaNa , NaarAyaNa , NaarAyaNa SrImath Azhagiya Singar Thiruvadi , Oppiliappan Koil V.Sadagopan - "muralidhar rangaswamy" <rangaswamy_m <sgopan Wednesday, June 01, 2005 3:50 PM > Sri: > SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, > Dear Sriman Sadagopan Swamin, > Thanks again for a nectarine offering from the Pasurams of Tirumangai > Azhwar. In this context, it may be useful to recall the Vedic tribute > "Avir yajnEna kalpathAm prANO yajnEna kalpathAm apAnO yajnEna kalpathAm vyAnO yajnEna kalpathAm chakshur yajnEna kalpathAm shrOthram yajnEna kalpathAm manO yajnEna kalpathAm AtmA yajnEna kalpathAm". Furthermore, the Vedam declares "VishNurvaI yajna:" and "yajnOvai vishNu:". Therefore, it is imperative to make sure that all the senses are controlled and one submits the Atma as havis in the yajna of SharaNagati performed by Lord Narayana accompanied by Sri. It is also helpful to recall here that Acharyas denote the pUrva and uttara araNi that unite the havis of the Atma with the Agni denoted by the Lord's Lotus Feet. This aspect is eloquently saluted by Swami Desikan in the Phala Paddhathi of the Padhuka Sahasram. Thanks again for reminding adiyen of these wonderful gems from our Kula Dhanam through your superb posting filled with copious quotations from the Bhagavd Gita.
