Dear BhakthAs of ThiruviNNagarappan :

In the previous Paasuram , Thirumangai declared that he has left

behind those relatives with Raagha-dhvEshams to join the company of

other relatives , who were free from the above blemishes so that his

Saadhana /Upaasanai to gain Moksha Sukham can thrive and prosper .

Thirumangai confessed to the Lord that he is enjoying a superior

state of Daasyam of the Lord and as a result , he is holding on to

the Lord's roopam and chinthanai (dhyAnam) securely in his mind .

ThiruviNNagarappan smiled and asked His dear Bhakthan another

question : Namm KaliyA ! It is good to know about all the steps that

you have taken so far . We are very pleased . I still have a doubt .

Even if you part with the company of your undesirable relatives ,

what have you done with siRRinbham ( nonlasting pleasures of

the world and their templations ) ? Wont they cause You to gain

unwanted new relatives and friends again and hold you back ?

Kaliyan answers the Lord's additional question this way :

MaanEy nOkku nallAr mathi pOl muhatthu ulavum

OonEy kaNN vaaLikku udainthu Ottanthu UnnadainthEn

KOnE ! KurumkudiyuL KuzhahA ! ThirunaRayUrt-

thEnE ! Varupunal soozh ThiruviNNagarAnE ! - - -Periya Thirumozhi :6.3.3

(Meaning) : Oh my Sarva SwAmi ( KOnE ) ! Oh my Lord , who is associated with

Thirukkurumkudi dhivya dEsam ( KuRumkudiyuL KuzhahanE ) ! Oh the honey

( ambrosia) present as SrinivAsan at NaacchiyAr Koil ( Thiru NaRayUrt-

thEnE) ! ThiruviNNagarAnE ! Being afraid of the arrows originating from

the fleshy and shining eyes found in the moon-like beautiful faces of

the noble ladies, adiyEn has run to the safety of Your lotus feet .

Fearing those dart like eyes resembling in beauty , the doe's eyes,

adiyEn has bolted to Your side to eliminate any future entaglements

with siRRinbham and thereby create newer lines of bandhus and

friends , who may not be beneficial for gaining asanchala bhakthi .

Special Notes :

*****************

The eyes of the young ladies are similar to those of the female deer .

These eyes are captivating as they shine out of their full Moon-like ,

beautiful faces . The physical beauty of the young ladies is also

arresting .

Many of these ladies also have superior aathma guNams . When the glances

from their youthful eyes hit a male , they have the effect of a powerful

arrow that shatters the mind of the male and makes their minds

useless for anything else .

ThiruviNNagrappa ! adiyEn started this Paasuram with the beginning ,

" MaanEy nOkku " . That reminded me of AzhwAr's MangaLAsAsanam of

MahA Lakshmi on the chest of VaishNava Nampi at Thirukkudungudi

" MaanEy nOkku madvALai Maarbil koNDAi MaadhavA " . Oh ThiruviNNagarappa!

My mind got pulled to Thirukkurungudi from where adiyEn is going to reach

Your Parama Padham ( ViNNagar ) as this charama dEham falls down .

As a result of this memory of things to come , the salutations to

Kurungudi Nampi joined in Your paasuram as " KuRunkudiyuL KuzhahA " .

At ThirukkuRungudi , the name of the VimAnam is Pancha kEthakam

or the five banners fluttering vimAnam representing the Five Moorthys at

ThirukkuRungudi : VaishNava Nambi , NinRa Nambi . ThiruppARkkadal

Nambi, Malai mEl Nambi and Iruntha Nambi . At ThiruviNNagaram ,

My Lord , You manifest also in Five forms : Ponnappan , Mutthappan ,

MaNiappaan , Yennappan and ThiruviNNagarappan . Here too

You are demonstrating the waving of the five banners ( Pancha Kethakam )

to remind us of the five forms of Yours . Thus , it is natural that adiyEn's

thoughts run off to Thirukkurungudi as I stand before You and have Your

roopa dhyAnam .

In this Paasuram , the MangaLAsAsanam for ThirunaRayUr Nambi

standing under SrinivAsa VimAnam got included . You may ask ,

KaliyA ! Why this distraction ? adiyEn has to mention that Nampikkai

NaacchiyAr ( VanjuLavalli ) SamEtha ThirunaRayUr SrinivAsan (Nampi)

is looking over my shoulders and pressing adiyEn to arrive at His

dhivya dEsam . As you know , adiyEn is leaving next to recieve

Sankha-Chakra Mudhrai from NaRayUr Nambi . Although adiyEn had

samaasrayaNam earlier and had recieved Sankha-chakra Mudhrais before

to initiate me as a VaishNavan and have recieved ManthrOpadEsam

on Moola Manthram directly from You , adiyEn is going to recieve once

again Sankha-Chakra Mudhrais from Nambi at ThirunaRayUr . Your

SaasthrAs say that one can have the Sankha-Chakra mudhrais

imprinted on one's shoulders more than once . NaRayUr Nambi is

determined to perform this SamskAram and this thought is like

tasting honey . Therefore adiyEn is addressing NaRayUr Nambi

in Your MangaLAsAsana PaasuraM as "Thiru NaRayUr thEnE " .

The flood of nectar flowing in the VirajA river to the south of

Your temple reminded adiyEn of the flood of aaanandha anubhavam

like the tasting of the honey ("thEn " ) and Your dhivya dEsam

appeared to me as "Varu Punal Soozh ThiruviNNagar ". May

that flood of blissful anubhavam of Yours immerse me in its

sweetness at Your dhivya dEsam !
