ThiruviNNagarappan Paasurams by Kaliyan : PartXXV ( Periya Thirumozhi: 6.3.9 and 10 )

Dear BhakthAs of ThiruviNNagarappan :

 

Today , we will study the Ninth & Tenth Paasurams from

the 6.3 pathikam of Periya Thirumozhi :

 

sollAy ThirumArbhA ! UnakkAhi thoNDupatta

nallEnai vinaikaL naliyAmai nambu Nambee

MallA KudamAdi MasdhusoodhanE ulahil

sellA nallisayAyi ThiruviNNagarAnE - - -Periya Thirumozhi: 6.3.9

 

The key passage of this Paasuram

" ulahil sellA NallisayAyi ! sollAy ! .

 

Now , it is Kaliyan's turn to ask the Lord a question :

Oh Sriya: Pathi ! Oh Lord with superior guNams like

Sathya Kaamathvam and souseelyam ! Will these GuNams

be relevant for Bhaddha Jeevans ? You will not agree to

granting phalan for Saadhanaas in this samsAric world

by going against the nature of Prakruthi . Please tell me .

is it possible ? How can I perform Kaimkaryams in this world ,

recieve Your grace and stay in this SamsAric universe ?

adiyEn is convinced that the total auspiciousness

will result only after attaining Your Parama Padham .

 

(Meaning of this slOkam ) :

Oh Lord with MahA Lakshmi on Your chest ( Thiru MaarbhA ) !

adiyEn has not swerved from the Vedic injunctions and I am

performing kaimkaryams to You both ( PerumAL and PirAtti )

while recognizing that it is my Svaroopam to be engaged in

such Kaimkaryams for You . adiyEn also notices that You

( the Lord) are watching over me as my Master so that adiyEn

will not suffer from the karmAs in this world ( Unakku aahi thoNDupatta

nallEnai vinaikaL naliyAmai nambu Nambee ) . adiyEn is engaged in

performing kaimkaryams for You ( UnakkAhi thoNDupatta adiyEn ) .

As a result , I have become the object of Your anugraham

( nallEnai = Unn arulukku PaatthiramAna yennai ). As the sarva guNa

poorNan (Nambee) , You have willed that the paapams would not

cause himsai to me ( NallEnai vinaikaL naliyAmai nambu Nambee ) .

 

Oh Most heroic Lord( MallA) ! Oh aasritha Vaathsalya PrabhO !

You danced the complex pot dance as KudamAdi at the four

junctions of the streets of BrundhAvanam to please Your aasrithAs .

 

Oh Lord , who destroys the enemies of auspiciousness right from

the beginning of the created world ( MadhusoodhananE ) !

 

ThiruviNNagarappA ! You possess the auspicous guNams

like souseelyam , Sathya-sankalpathvam and Sathya-kAmathvam .

Will those auspicious guNams apply to the bhaddha jeevans ? You may

not agree to grant phalans here against the nature of Prakruthi .

Therefore , please tell me how adiyEn can overcome the ills of

samsAric life here and perform uninterrupted kaimkaryams

for You here . adiyEn can gain the complete phalan only in Your

Supreme abode . Thus , Thirumangai articulates the phalan that

he is seeking through his SaraNAgathy : eternal blemishless

kaimkaryam in Parama Padham.

 

Periya Thirumozhi Phala Sruthi Paasuram( 6.3.10)

After making reference to the phalan for his SaraNAgathy ,

Kaliyan sums up the fruits of reciting the ten paasurams of

this Pathikam :

 

thArAr malark-kamalat-tadam soozhntha taNN puRavil

seerAr nedu maRuhil ThiruviNNagarAnaik-

kArAr puyal taDakkai Kaliyan olimAlai

aarArivai vallAr avarkku allal nillAvE

 

The key passage in this final , Phala Sruthi paasuram is :

" Kaliyan oli maalai ivai vallAr AarAr avarkku allal nillaa ".

 

(Meaning) : Whoever recites and reflects upon these paasurams

emanting from the sacred vaak of Thirumangai Mannan will

experience the total destruction of all their sins .

 

ThiruviNNagarAn's dhivya dEsam is surrounded by the cool groves

with many beautiful lotus ponds ( thArAr malark-kamalat-taDam

soozhntha TaNN puRavil) ; it has also splendid and broad rows of

streets occupied by pious bhAgavathAs ( SeerAr nedu maRuhil ) .

Thirumangai Mannan known for his broad and generous hands

resembling the dense showers originating from dark rainy clouds

( KaarAr puyal taDakkai kaliyan) presented these ten Paasurams /

(oli maalai =Sound garlands ) to the Lord of ThiruviNNagaram .

Whosoever reflects on these ten paasurams on ThiruviNNagarappan

and recites them with devotion will have the phalan of all of their sins

destroyed through the grace of the Lord of ThiruviNNagaram

(AarArivai vallAr avarkallal nillAvE ) .
