Arul Maa Kadal of Thiru SiRu Puliyoor Dhivya Desam

********************************************************************

In the previous Paasuram , Kaliyan appealed to one and

all to cast aside Veda-BhAhya Mathams like Jainam and

those Mathams which straddle between Vedam and outside

Vedam such as Saiva-Paasupatham as well as Veda Mathams

that stress on the worship of DevathAntharams ( Devathais

other than Sriman Narayana ) .

In this Paasuram , Kaliyan asks us to uplift ourselves with

single-minded aarAdhanam of Sriman NarayaNan , who is

the Para Devathai to all other silluNDi dEvathais . Latter are

all under the control of Sriman Narayanan and have been

empowered to perform their duties by Him in their assigned

positions .

In this beautiful Paasuram , Kaliyan points out that he practises

what he preaches . He says that he does not know as upAyam for

his Moksham anything other than the sacred feet of the Lord

residing at SiRu PuliyUr in the archA form with the name of

AruL Maa Kadal. He states that coming to this dhivya dEsam

and worshipping Chala Sayana PerumAL would not only destroy

all of our sins but also stabilize our Kaimkarya Sri . That is what I did

says Thirumangai in this Paasuram :

Parayum vinai thozhuthu uymmin neer PaNiyum siRu thoNDar

aRayum punal oru paal vayal oru paal pozhil oru paal

siRai vaNDu inam aRayum Siru PuliyUr chalasayanatthu

uRayum IRai adi allathu onRu iRayum aRiyEn

(Meaning ) : Oh AasthikAs ! Worship Him and be redeemed

( Thozhuthu uyymin neer ) ! Your sins will disappear ( Vinai

PaRayum ) . Approach Him as His servants and prostrate before

Him ( siRu thoNDeer PaNiyum ) ! Seek refuge in Him . Here at

SiRu PuliyUr , there is the abundance of water in the form of

floods ; there are fertile , green rice paddy fileds on one side ;

there are rich , green groves on another side . Every where ,

the honey bees roam with their wings spread performing

Hari Naama Sankeerthanam . Here rests Chala Sayana PerumAl

for ever . Adiyen worships Him here and adiyEn does not know

of any upAyam other than His sacred feet for my rakshaNam .

Special Notes :

********************

"SiRu ThoNDu " that Kaliyan refers to in this Paasuram

is what ANDAL seeks as " KuRREval " in Her ThiruppAvai

Paasuram(29) :

" yeRRaikkum yEzhEzh piRavikkum unn tannOdu uRROmE

aavOm ; UnakkE nAmm aatccheyvOm ; - - -Nee yengaL

kURREVAL koLLAmal pOhAthu ; maRRai namm Kaamangal

mARRu ".

Seeking KuRREVal ( kuRu+yEval = EmperumAnAl yEvappatta

kaariyangaLai Avan ThiruvuLLam mahizha seythal) , ANDAL

reminds the Lord of the indissoluble Master-Servant relationship

between the Lord and the Jeevan . ANDAL reminds the Lord that it is

SvaymprayOjana , ParamaikAnthi Kaimkaryam ( Kaimkaryam for

Kaimkaryam's sake without anticipating any rewards from those

who know of no god other than the Lord Sriman Narayna as their God ) .

This Kaimkaryam is "PoRRAmaRai adiyE pORRum Kaimkaryam ".

This Kaimkaryam is Bhagavath abhimatha Kaimkaryam . That which

is desired by the Lord and commanded by Him . Swamy NammAzhwAr

refers to this kaimkaryam by us as SeshabhUthars ( servants ) of the Lord

as " ozhivil KaalamellAm udanAy manni " seyya vENDiya KuRREval.

This is the Kaimkaryam done by those , who experience EmperumAn

as " uNNUm sORu , Paruhu neer ". This is Sarva dEsa , Sarva Kaala ,

Sarva avasthaa kaimkaryam . it is not of the bargaining kind :

dEhi mE , dhadhAmi tE " ( Grant me this , I will give You that).

Kaliyan instructs us to approach the Srimanthou CharaNou

( Thiruppolintha Thiruvadi) and perform the KuRREval and

seek rakshaNam from SamsAric afflictions and have all of our

sins destroyed ( siRu thoNDeer , PaNiyum . Thozhuthu uymmin !

vinai paRayum ) .
