GodhAm udhArAm sthuma: ( Let us eulogize the Generous GodhA )

Suddha Satthvamayeem GodhAm bhajaami !

Dear BhakthAs of GodhA PirAtti :

Let us continue with the celebration of Pearls that are going

to join the Mutthangi for GodhA PirAtti .

Please support the Mutthangi Kaimkaryam scheduled for

this Aadi Pooram day for GodhA PirAtti at SrivilliputthUr .

Please let me know whether you would like to join in this ghOshti.

May ANDAL who has blessed us with the pearls ( Paasurams ) of

ThiruppAvai and NaacchiyAr Thirumozhi involve You all in

Her Mutthangi Kaimkaryam !

Eleventh SlOkam of MuktthA Paddathi( Extrapolated Meaning for the Angi)

***********************************************************************************************

Swamy Desikan instructs us on the two aspects of the Mutthu adorning

the Muttthangi AabharaNam here : (1) Moukthika Rasmi Jaalai: parishkruthA:

The angi will be constructed and decorated with the ropes of the rays

emanating from the splendid pearls (2) Bhavathee anEkOrmi samaakulAnAm

PumsAm tama: saagara pOthapAthree bhavathy : Oh Mutthangi ! The horrible

ocean of SamsAram ( worldly life ) is forever restless and stormy with unceasing

and giant waves of Hunger , Thirst , Sorrow , Ajn~Anam , old age and death .

The beings of the world are buffeted by these dark Tsunami waves .

Oh Mutthangi empowered by Godha PirAtti ! You become the safe boat

to cross this dangerous ocean of SamsAram and reach the other shore of

Your Lord's kingdom of Srivaikuntam .

Thirteenth SlOkam oF MuktthA Paddhathi ( Extrapolated Meaning )

*********************************************************************************

Oh AndAL"s Mutthangi ! You are made up of the highest quality pearls .

The cool effulgence emanating from those pearls makes even day time

a veritable mon-lit cool night ( tE Moukthikai: idham visvam dhivApi

jyOthsnAmayam bhabhUva ). The brightness of the rays from the pearls

are cool and comforting like a Moon-lit night instead of being harsh and

bright like a Sun-lit day .Tradition is to recognize the pearls as NammAzhwAr

Paasurams .For those , who recite and reflect on the meanings of these

Paasurams , the three kinds of sorrows ( Taapa Thrayams) are quenched

and even SamsAram transforms into a cool night brightened by the full Moon .

Fourteenth SlOkam of MuktthA Paddhathi( Extrapolated Meaning )

************************************************************************************

Oh Pearls of Mutthangi ! For us , who has sought the refuge of Your

Mistress , You create the bliss equivalent to Saayujyam through Her (GodhA's)

Power . All of our fears are now removed ( SamAsrithAnAm na: anagAm visuddhim ,

thrAsa vyApayam cha thvam vitanvathee ; thvam svakeeyai: MuktthA-phalai :

saayujyam aapAdhayasi ) . Oh Mutthangi ! Through Your pearls , You confer

the twin blessings of blemishlessness(Visuddhi) on us and phala-rahitha

kaimkaryam ( Kaimkaryam to GodhA PirAtti without seeking any returns)

and the sukhAnubhavam ( Saayujyam ) that results from such kaimkaryams.

Fifteenth SlOkam of MuktthA Paddathi ( Extrapolated Meaning )

********************************************************************************

There are the dazzling white rays that originate from the high quality

pearls of the Mutthangi . They extend outward . That reminds one of

the Paalikais used during auspicious occasions such as Your VivAham

with Lord RanganAthan . The yajamAnan plants in appropriate containers

the seeds of rice , black gram, green gram et al and they germinate in three or

four days into the tender growing seedling ( Oh Mutthangi ! moukthikAnAm

udhagrai: kiraNa prarOhai: keerNAm ThvAm uthsavarTam vihithAm

abhangurAm angura-paalikAm avaimi ) . Aadipoora Uthsavam is taking

place . Angura PaalikAs ( the container having the germinated seeds )

are prepared and maintained for the duration of the Uthsavam at

SrivilliputthUr . The protruding rays from the pearls of the Mutthangi

are compared here to the young shoots of the plants springing

out of the angurams ( germinated seeds) from the Paalika paathrams .

Sixteeth SlOkam of MuktthA Paddhathi ( Extrapolated Meaning )

***********************************************************************************

Here the comparison is between the flood of white rays that flow

from the pearls of Mutthangi and the turbulent , white waters of

Gangaa river that confers auspiciousness on every one ( Thvam

MukthA mayUkhai: srOthO-visEshai: subagaam anyAm sura sindhum

pushNAsi ; sakalasya jantho: Sivathva-hEthum pushNAsi ) . Through

the flow of the rays from your pearls , You resemble another kind of

pious Gangaa (Subhagam anyAm sura sindhu: ) river known for

the special floods ( SrOthO-visEshai: ) made up of its radiant

white waters ; just like that river , You become the conferrer of

auspiciousness ( Sivathva-hEthu) for all .

Seventeenth SlOkam of MukthA Paddhathi ( Extrapolated Meaning)

**************************************************************************************

GodhA PirAtti's divine soundharyam is the cause for Lord RanganAthA's

adoration of Her . In that ocean of Her divine beauty , Oh Pearls of

the Mutthangi ! You are like the one that burst on the scene from

the Mutthu sippis ( TasyA: laavaNya sindhO: savidhE nishaNNAm

moukhtika jaala dhrusyAm ThvAm prasoothi-bhinnAm sukthim

prathiyanthi ) . BhakthAs think of You as the pearls bursting out of

their mother houses at the time of birth as the Sippis ( sukthi) surrounded

by ( savidhE nishaNNaam ) the ocean of GodhA's beauty ( laavaNya

sindhu) .

Eightheenth SlOkam of MukthA Paddhathi (Extrapolated Meaning )

************************************************************************************

Oh Rows of matchless pearls( Thvayi nisthulAni MukthA-phalAni)

adorning the Mutthangi of ANDAL ! You look like the rows of seedlings

of stars planted ( naaRRU naduthal) by Your Lord Ranganatha

for the next aeon ( kalpam ) for the creation of future worlds

( RanganAthEna upthAni kalpAnthara thArakANAm BheejAni

avaimi ) .

Ninteenth SlOkam of MukthA Paddhathi ( Extrapolated meaning )

**************************************************************************************

The analogy of the Pearls with the stars in the sky continues to invite

Swamy Desikan's attention . Here , he compares the radiant , white

pearls to the bubbles in the rapidly descending aakAsa Gangai

during the Thrivikrama avathAram ( vyOmApagaa vipula BhudhBhudha

darsaneeyai: Tava mukthAphalai: punuruktha thAram abhavath) .

Twentieth SlOkam of MukthA Paddhathi ( Extrapolated Meaning )

**********************************************************************************

Here Swamy Desikan salutes the whiteness of the Pearls that

symbolize the Satthva GuNam of the Lord that protects the janthus

of the world . He attributes the Suddha Satthva maya (white) rays

emanating from all the four sides of the Mutthangi as the protective

instrument ( raksha-vidhou niyukthA Thvam visruthvarENa mukthA-

mayUkha nikarENa tadharham prabhUtham satthvam darsayasee ) .

Swamy Desikan chooses the word " PrabhUtham " to qualify

the nature of Satthva guNam . PrabhUtham means some thing of

gigantic size . Our Dhivya dampathi's satthva guNam is thus

immeasurable in size .
