Several hundred years back, imagining a stroll in and around the

SriRangam temple, would have made us stop in front of every

thiru-mALigai and stand with awe and inspiration, reverence and

regard. This is bhaTTar's thirumALigai, this is Sri rAmAnujar's, this

is nanjEyar's, this urangAvilli DAsar's would have gone on the list.

 

This is what Sri thirumangai AzhwAr talks about when talking of

thirunaRaiyUr residences. These houses are all very famed and popular

and are densely flocked next and next.These srEvaishNavites are famous

in their own respects and this quality is one of the great aspects of

thirunaRaiyiUr celebrated by kaliyan

 

This is said in the final pAsuram of the fifth thirumozhi in the sixth ten

'..nAmath thiraL mA-mALigai sUzhndha naRaiyUr mEal'

 

Apparently, the emphasis is more on the inmates than on the edifices.
