Sri:

GodhAm udhArAm sthuma: ( Let us eulogize the Generous GodhA )

Dear BhakthAs of GodhA PirAtti :

Let us continue with the study of the MukthA Paddhathi and

seek the inspiration from Swamy Desikan's celebration of

the Mutthu ( Pearls) .

Please support the Mutthangi Kaimkaryam for Our Soodikkoduttha NaachiyAr

on Her AvathAra dinam at Srivilliputhur . adiyEn can not think of anything

more auspicious for a Sri VaishNavan than joining the ghOshti of ANDAL

on Her avathAram day ( August 8, 2005 ) , when we as Her children can

present Her our new AabharaNam as She reenters Her ThirumALIgai

after the RaTOthsavam . Small or big , all samarpaNams are welcome .

Now , let us get back to the enjoyment of adaptation of MukthA Paddhathi of

Swamy Desikan to the Mutthangi SamarpaNam Uthsavam for ANDAL .

SlOkam 21 (Extrapolated Meaning )

***********************************************

Oh Pearls of the Mutthangi ! You possess " Moukthika SrI : "

( Beautiful with the Mutthus that constitute You ) . When ANDALis

united with You by adorning You ( Bhavatheem prathipadhyamAnE ) ,

then You resemble the collective lustre of a pond filled with fully blossomed

white lillies ( abhidhyamAna KumudhA Kumudhvatheeva kaanthim angeekarOshi) .

Kumudha pushpams bloom at night . Swamy Desikan visualizes the Mutthus

as the blossomed Kumudha pushpams in a pond full of them (Mutthangi) on

a Moon lit night revealing their beauty .

SlOkam 22 (Extrapolated Meaning )

**********************************************

Here , Swamy Desikan states that the lustre of the MutthukkaL

(Pearls) reveal the Parabrahmam , the meaning of the Upanishads

standing next to ANDAL with the name of RangamannAr . Oh Mutthangi !

You are full of Pearls ( Thvam MuktthAmayee ) . You have the lustre

like the white coating on the mansions of Upanishads ( Thvam thrayyantha

harmyatala varNa-sudhAyithEna jyOthsnA-vikalpitha ruchaa ) . It is like

the rays of Moon falling on the towers of the mansions of

the Upanishads to reveal their content (viz) : Parabrahmam .

Through that lustre , you wash away the sins of the devotees

prostrating before ANDAL seeking Her anugraham ( angi-

sarOja bhAjAm sathaam avarNam samayasi) . That power

was conferred by Andal to the pearls of the Mutthangi .

The moon-like lustre of the pearls removes the avarNam

( stains of sins) and creates VarNam ( sin free state) .

SlOkam 23(Extrapolated Meaning )

********************************************

In this slOkam , Swamy Desikan describes the steady amrutha pravAham

( Flow of nectar ) from the pearls ( MoukthikAni nithya amrutha pravAham

prasuvathE ) . That cool amrutha pravAham quenches the scorching heat of

Taapa Thrayams of those who seek refuge , which can not be removed by

anything else ( samAsrithAnAm acchinna thaapa samanAya amrutha pravAham).

SlOkam 24: (Extrapolated Meaning )

***********************************************

Here the spreading lustre of the rays from pearls are visualized

as a white umbrella over the head of ANDAL to indicate that She

is the Empress of this Universe ( MukthAmsubhi: navam aathapathram

kruthavathi ) .

SlOkam 25 ( Extrapolated Meaning )

***********************************************

In this slOkam , the lustre of the rows of pearls on the Mutthangi are

compared to the rows of blossoming Kalpaka tree of Svarga lOkam

( MugdhA tE Moukthika Paddhathi: suratarO: pushpa pankthiriva

parisphurathy ) .

SlOkam 26 (Extrapolated Meaning ) :

*********************************************

Oh dazzling white Pearls of Mutthangi ! You have your own intrinsic

lustre of a high quality that captivates the minds of all who see you

( manOj~nai: MukthAmsubhi: svAbhAvakeem ruchaa ) . Now the smiles

from ANDAL's mouth filled with a row of shining white teeth doubles

your natural lustre ( ruchaa aamrEDithai: mukthAmsubhi: ) and

confers auspicousness on every one ( MukthAmsubhi: svaabhAvikeem

amalAm sakala janthushu prasatthim prAya: prakaDeekarOthi ) .

SlOkam 27 ( Extrapolated Meaning ) :

***********************************************

Oh Pearls of Mutthangi ! The lustre from the rows and rows of pearls

enmeshed in You transforms my mind stained with blemishes in to a sparkling

rock crystal (Spatikaa) palace fit enough for the residence of ANDAL inside it

( Tava MukthAmsava: yEva nisseema panka malinam madheeyam

hrudhayam --- sphaDika soudha tulAm sahasaa nayanthy ) .

SlOkam 28 (Extrapolated Meaning )

********************************************

In this slOkam , the blossoming of the Kumudha (Aambhal ) Pushpams

in a pond at the sight of the Moon is invoked . Aambhal Pushpams

blossom only at night , when they see their beloved Moon . Swamy

Desikan compares his mind to that pond full of Aambhal flowers .

He "says that his mind attained Jn~Ana VikAsam (Malarcchi)

as a result of the darsana souubhAgyam of the pearl-studded

Mutthangi .

SlOkam 29 (Extrapolated Meaning)********************************************

In this slOkam , Swamy Desikan describes the extraordinary auspicious

effect of the rays from the pearls of the Mutthangi as they fall on

the citizens of upper worlds ( DEvAs , Brahmaa et al) . In the next slOkam ,

Swamy Desikan covers the effect of these sacred rays , when they

fall on the humans to grant them MokshAntha Iswaryam .

Oh Pearls of the Mutthangi ! The rays emanating from You are

the sacred waters in that they have the cleansing power to remove all

blemishes from the DevAs , who seek positions like Indhra Pattam ,

Brahma Pattam et al . Those powerful rays cleanse them and appear like

performing coronation ( PattAbhishEkam ) for those desired positions .

Oh GodhE !Those rays are united with Your own dEha Kaanthi to acquire that

power to grant them the boon of such lofty positions . The rays have the power of

PuNya theerTa prOkshaNams ( Muktha amsubhi: theerTa udhakai: PadArTina:

thAnn snapayasi iva) .

SlOkam 30 (Extended Meanings)

******************************************

When these auspicious rays from the pearls of Mutthangi fall on

the fortunate human beings serving ANDAL , they are empowered by

ANDAL's deha kaanthi to serve as the powerful medicinal pills prepared by

the austere SiddhAs ( Siddha guLikaa ) . These rays blending with the nectar

of ANDAL's dEha kaanthi provide a coating ( anulEpam) as it were for the humans

and destroys the fever of SamsAram ( samsAra samjwarajushAm jagathAm

sanjeevanAya prabhavanthi) . Through their anulEpam , these rays from

the pearls preapre the jeevans for Iswaryam culminating in Moksha Sukham .
