GodhAm udhArAm sthuma: ( Let us eulogize the Generous GodhA )

Dear BhakthAs of GodhA PirAtti :

Today we will conclude the study of the MukthA Paddhathi

(SlOkams 41 to 50) and seek the inspiration from Swamy Desikan's

celebration of the Mutthu ( Pearls) a la PaadhukA Sahasram .

Please join in the Mutthangi Kaimkaryam for Our Soodikkoduttha

NaachiyAr on Her AvathAra dinam at Srivilliputhur yathA Sakthi .

Please recieve the blessings of ANDAL and RangamannAr as well

as PeriyAzhwAr on the occasion of the Mutthangi SamarpaNam .

SlOkam 41 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

****************************************************

Oh GodhE ! You recognized SrivilliputthUr as BrundhAvanam and

searched for Your Lord assidously through Your dhivya Sookthi

of NacchiyAr Thirumozhi and finally had His darsanam there .

You travelled all over "BrundhAvanam " during this search for Him .

There was immense physical exertion during that search . Shiny

little drops of sweat appeared from that effort . The lustre of those

glistening sweat drops seems to have been transferred to the pearls of

Your Mutthangi ( tE moukthikAni chira viharaNa khEdhAth sambruthAnAm

Sramajala kaNikAnAm sampadham bhajanthy) . KhEdham means

anxious and sorrowful search with significant coverage of ground

in that effort ( chira viharaNa khEdhAth ) . That exertion produced

tiny little sweat drops of glistening nature ( chira viharaNa khEdhAth

sambruthnAm Sramajala kaNikAnAm Sampadham bhajanthy ) . Your

pearls of the Mutthangi acquired as it were that sObhai ( Sampadham) .

SlOkam 42 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

****************************************

Oh Mutthangi of GodhA Devi ! On You are enmeshed

many lustrous pearls . The radiance of these famous pearls

enhances twofold the lustre of the kaanthi of the toe nails

of RangamanAr , who is standing next to Your Mistress

( prakaDitha yasasAm dhvigunitha nakha chandra

jyOthishAm tE moukthikAnAm Saasvathee iyam

Chandrikaa) . The JyOthi from these pearls are eternal

and is like the cool chandrika . Swamy Desikan prays for

that lustre to remove the fear of the people at their last

moments , when they experience the shutting down of

the indhriyams ( tE moukthikAnAm Saasvathee iyam

chandrikaa karaNavilaya vELaa kAtharasya asya janthO:

parithApam Samayuthu ) .

SlOkam 43( The Extrapolated Meaning )

****************************************

The assembly of pearls in the Mutthangi is praised here .

It is like the assembly of liberated Muktha Jeevans in

Parama Padham . That jeevan has Aathma JyOthi , which

is compared to the dhivya tEjas of the MukthA MaNis of

the Mutthangi .

SlOkam 44 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

*****************************************

Oh Mutthangi! The enmeshed pearls on You are blemishless

and are radiant with their btight lustre . Their Kaanthi spreads

all over the universe . They remind us of the court in Srivaikuntam

where Nithya Sooris and Muktha Jeevans form the ghOshti

( MukthA: yadhupAsadhanAth thrAsa-heenA: svai: aalOkai:

akhilam bhuvanam dheepavath Bibhrathy ; VishNupadhE

amitha vibavAm tAmm aasTAneem tarkayAmi ) .

SlOkam 45 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

******************************************

Oh Mutthangi! Indhran places You on the back of his court

elephant , IrAvadham and brings it to Srivilliputthur to offer

it as samarpaNam on Your avathAram day . During that occasion ,

the Kaanthi from the pearls on You spread over the forehead of

Indran's elephant and looks like the decorative aabharaNam ( mukha

paDam ) for that elephant . Mukha paDam has silver objects stitched

on to velvet cloth . Swamy Desikan visualizes the spreading kaanthi of

the pearls of the Mutthangi resting on the back of IrAvadham that

falls on the forehead of latter as : " Thvam dasa-satha-dhrusaa

dEvEna danthirAjasya moordhni nyasthA moukthikAnAm miuhapaDa

ruchim dhathsE " .

SlOkam 46 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

*****************************************

Oh Mutthangi ! High quality pearls are enmeshed on You .

Their lustre is cool and moves like the bright waves of GangA river.

Your pearls have association with the sacred ThirumEni

of ANDAL ; that in turn empowers them to grant amarathvam

( freedom from old age and death) to those who worship Your

Yajamaani ( tava pruTula moukthika kiraNA: sathAm ajarAmaram

padham vidhatE ) .

SlOkam 47 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

****************************************

Oh Muttthangi ! Highest quality pearls are enmeshed on You .

They geenrate unique lustre that falls on the head of all those

standing nearby . One of them is Lord Sivan . He has the clear

GangA flowing from His matted hair . The rays from Your pearls

fall on the JaDai of Lord Sivan , the dear devotee of RangamannAr

and looks like a second GangA river with its sparkling white waters

( Tava MukthA MaNi maha: kAnthi Kapardha sirE padhathi. anyAm

GangAm ksharathi ) .

SlOkam 48( The Extrapolate Meaning )

****************************************

Oh Mutthangi ! the abundant lustre originating from Your rows of

pearls generate a unique flood of nectar ( praguNa dheepthaya:

tAvakA: moukthika panTaya: kamapi amrutha-nirjaram ksharanthi ).

Those who get immersed in that nectar overcome death and old age

( yadhanushangiNa: maneeshiNa: jaraa maraNa dhanthuram

tApa thrayam jahathy ) .

SlOkam 49( The extrapolated Meaning )

***************************************

Oh Mutthangi ! The highest quality pearls constitute You .

The Kaanthi of those pearls remind one of the laughter of

the servants of ANDAL , who jocularly refer to the control

that ANDAL has over RangamannAr through the power of

the Soodikkoduttha Maalai ( SuddhAntha chEDee janE durmadhAth

jalpathy Thvam Mukthaa mayUkha cchalAth prahasithA prAya: ) .

SlOkam 50 ( The Extrapolated Meaning )

******************************************

This is the final slOkam of MukthA Paddhathi .

The customized slOkam for ANDAL can be approximated as:

RangEsa dayitha mukthAngi saa mE vidhadhAthu Saasvatheem suddhim

yann moukthika prabhAbhi: SvEtadhveepamiva sahyajaa dhveepam

Oh Mutthangi of the Divine Consort of RanganAthA ! May Thou grant

adiyEn the eternally lasting brightness ( freedom from sins) ! The Kaanthi

associated with Your pearls makes the entire island of Srirangam covered with

a whiteness similar to that of SvEtha dhveepam , where the residents are able to

enjoy the darsanam of the Lord with their own physical eyes . Only SvEtha

dhveepa Vaasis and the residents of Sri Vaikuntam have the bhAgyam of

visualizing the Lord with their physical eyes and enjoy His dhivya soundharyam .

Next , we will enjoy the excerpts from the slOkams of GodhA Sthuthi of

Swamy Desikan in the context of the Mutthangi SamarpaNam on August 5,

2005 . Please join in this kaimakryam .
