Guest guest
Sri: GodhAm udhArAm sthuma: ( Let us eulogize the Generous GodhA ) Dear BhakthAs of GodhA PirAtti : Today we will continue with the study of the MukthA Paddhathi (SlOkams 31 to 40) and seek the inspiration from Swamy Desikan's celebration of the Mutthu ( Pearls) a la PaadhukA Sahasram . Please support the Mutthangi Kaimkaryam for Our Soodikkoduttha NaachiyAr on Her AvathAra dinam at Srivilliputhur yathA Sakthi . SlOkam 31( The extrapolated Meaning )***************************************** Oh Mutthangi ! you are strewn with pearls , which are like the Ranga sTalam (dance Floor ) spread with white flowers by devotees of ANDAL ( bhAvOttharai: adhigathA prathyuptha moukthikamishENa vikeerNa pushpA thvam ) . In ranga bhUmis , the dancers spread the white flowers during PushpAnjali . MutthAngi for ANDAL is like a pushpAnjali by Her bhakthAs except that the flowers in this case are white pearls . SlOkam 32 ( The extrapolated Meaning ) **************************************** Oh Mutthangi ! ChandrasEkharan ( Lord Sivan with the crescent Moon on His JaDai) is standing with bowed head before You and Your divine consort at SrivilliputthUr waiting for Your Lord's SaThAri to be placed on His head . At that time , the rays from your pearls of Mutthangi fall on ChandrasEkaran's head and join the cresent Moon to look like the stars ( SambhO: chUDA tushArakiraNam Tava moukthika Ogai: prathipanna tAram aapadhayanthi ) . SlOkam 33 : The Extrapolated Meaning ****************************************************** ANDAL has sanchAram around the PushkaraNi at SrivilliputthUr during the NeerAtta Uthsavam . She is wearing Her Mutthangi before neerAttam . GodhE ! You are always looking out to please Your divine consort , RangamannAr ( Viharatha: PadhmApathE : priyam aacharanthee Thvam ) . Before Your Lord arrives there for a sanchAram of HIs own , You seem to plant the assembly of the white rays from the pearls of Your Mutthnagi as seeds for the growth of lotus flowers in that PushkaraNi ( Thvam puratha: vikeerNai: mukthA mayUkha nivahai: mandira dheergikAsu padmineenAm kandhAni vinikshipasi manyE ) . KodiyOdu koodina thAmarai kizhangukaLai ANDAL nattu vaiikirAL . SlOkam 34: The extrapolated Meaning ************************************** The Moon wanes during KrsihNa paksham . The Moon is a brother (Sahajan) of Andal , the amsam of MahA Lakshmi , who arose from the Sea (Vaardihi sudhA) like Chandran . She is concerned about the waning of Her brother . She wishes that Her sahOdharan to have perfection and blemishless growth ( anga vruddhi) . Andal sends the assembly of rays form Her Mutthangi to Her Lord's Thiruvadi to seek the anugraham of Her Lord ( Sahajasya angAm vruddhim aasAsya , Mukundha padhayO: ThvAm moukthika pankthi lakshyAth praseedhayathi ) and helps Her brother in trouble . SlOkam 35 : The extrapolated Meaning **************************************** Oh AndaL ! Those Fortunate few ( yE nAma kEapi kruthina: ) lower their heads with bhakthi for You ( vinaya avanamrai: utthamAngai: ) and seek Your anugraham . They are blessed by You through the rays of the pearls from Your Mutthangi falling on them . Their prayers are to have the blemishlessness of the pearls adorning Your Mutthangi Those prayers are are answered by You ( moukthika Ogha niyathAm visuddhim icchanthi) . They recieve that boon from You in this world itself ( tE iha Thvath moukthika Oga niyathAm visuddhim avApnOthi). SlOkam 36 : The Extrapolated Meaning ********************************** Oh GodhE ! Your Divine consort has the line ( rEkhA ) that has the shape of the conch on His inner sole of His Thiruvadi . SaasthrAs say that the pearls are formed from that conch on Your Lord's Thiruvadi . " MukthAphalai:Rangabharthu: padhasarasija rEkha Paanchajanya prasoothim prajAnAm prakaDayasi" Andal publicizes thus the place of origin of the pearls used in the Mutthnagi that she is adorning . SlOkam 37 : The Extrapolated Meaning ************************************** During the ThrivikramAvathAra kaalam , GangA arose out of the Lord's Thiruvadi , when Brahma dEvan washed them with water from his KamaNDalu ( Bali-vimaTana vElA vyApina: Tasya VishNO: padha sarasija maadhvi Jaahnavee Janana samayam ) .The waters of GangA achieved perhaps their Visuddhi ( blemishlessness)from the nakha kaanthi of the Lord captured and held by Your pearls of the Mutthangi ( Jaahnavee janana sanmaya lagnAm ThAvakAnAm moukthikAnAm VAASANAAM vahathy ). SlOkam 38 : The Extrapolated Meaning ********************************************* Oh Mutthnagi ! Many pearls are enmeshed on You . Their lustre is lik a flood of torrential white water of a river . That flood glisten like an array of stars . Why would those stars come to earth in the form of a Muthtangi instead of staying up in their natural habitat ,the sky ? It is because they have a mission (i-e) to remove the ancient enimity between Chandran and the lotus flowers . They seem to be praying to You to remove that enimity experienced by Your sahOdharan, Chandran ( IndhO: vairam Samayithum taarA: iva prachura kiraNapoorA: mukthA: ThvAm sevamAnA:) . SlOkam 39: The Extrapolated Meaning *********************************** Oh Mutthangi ! Many splendid pearls are enmeshed on You . They remove the intense sufferings of the SamsAris , when they have Your darsanam . They generate nectar-like flow to quench the Taapams of the SamsAris . The pearls on the Mutthangi are AzhwAr's Paasurams . For those who are fortunate to recite them and reflect on their meanings , all the samsAric sufferings are driven away ( Svai: moukthikai: prANinAm mukulitha paritApaam , amrutha duhanAmiva ThvAm aadhriyE ) . SlOkam 40: The Extrapolated Meaning ************************************ Oh Pearls of ANDAL's Mutthangi ! You chase away all kinds of fears that those who prostrate before You even once ( sakruthapi vinathAnAm thrAsam unmoolayantheem MoukthikAni) . This is because of Your proximity to the DEvi of the Lord (ANDAL) , whom You are associated with .She is celebrated by all the three worlds for Her KaaruNyam , oudhAryam and Vaathsalyam ( Thribhuvana mahaneeyAm GodhAm upAsrithavathy ) .
