Lord krishNA to pANDavAs

It is often observed that every other person is commenting and

commending Sri krshNA's act of friendliness with the pANDAvAs.

Everyone wold eagerly recount the events from the mahA-bhAratham, sri

krshNA donning the role of charioteer for their sake, becoming an

emissary for them, transforming broad daylight into perceptible night

etc.

Can anyone imagine that behind the philantharophic acts lurks disgust

for them. Strange but true indeed. The Almighty who delivered the

great sermon -bhagawath gEthA, the Almighty who charioted for them,

the emperumAn who acted as an ambassador for them, who blatantly

adopted a patisan attitude towards them, having dislike for them?

Well. Sri krshNA, once when the horses were tired , high and dry and

no water was around, made water spring from the deep recesses of the

earth which made the rival kings exclaim A'What a brazen partiality.

How can we win over Him" Sri maNavALa mmunikaL who has given vyAkyAnam

for this peiryAzhwAr thirumozhi pAsuram

"..mun angu ninRu mOzhia ezhuvithavan malai " has commented

' ivargalukku ippadi oru paksha pAdhamA. nAm tholaindhOam. ivargaLai

eppadi velvadhu 'were the comments of the kings in the opposite camp.

What can then be their blunder?, as per Sri krshNA. It is well known

that devotion of dhraupadhi towards krishNA is of a high degree and

placed on a high pedestal. She who was insulted in the open assembley

hall, when the crisis was looming large, when the impending doom was

raising its ugly hood/head, appealed to Lord krshNA who showered His

Grace in the form of endless sarees to rescue her. Incidentally, the

greatness of thirunAmam emerged which is mentioned in mumUkshUppadi

"dhraupadhikku Abathil pudavai surandhadhu thirunAnam iREA"

The fact that the pANDAvAs were a mute witness, silent spectators,

dumb statues and standing audience to the insults and insiunuations

heaped on her, was the primary bludner they had committed. That they

were instrumental for the whole dastardly act of kaurvAs is one thing

but their act of omissions when this triggered and snowballed into a

crisis was their blunder.

Natural justice, therefore, pointed its fingure towards them, against

them, throwing up a death sentence. It was indeed a divine decision.

Then, why, one may question, was this not carried out? In the

contemporary world, one may find prayer for president's clemency

against order of death sentence to be converted into a life sentence.

If, in fact, going by the verdict, the pANDAvAs were killed, will it

ensure justice to her. On the contrary it wold inflict hardship on

her and she would be more victimised add this would add insult to

injury. She had vowed to restore her tress in order. Had pANdAvAs been

slain, her spread tresses would have remained status-quo forever. The

Lord considering this very fact, took upon Himself, the act of appeal

for clemency and pardoned them.

This is succinctly brought forth by Sri piLLai lOkAchArya in the three

sUthram-s 20,21 and 22 of SrE vachana bhUshaNam.

SVB 20'dhraupadhi paripavam kaNdirundhadhu krishNAbiprAyathAlEa pradhAna dhOsham'

Being a mute witness to the intolerable hardship to dhraupadhi is the

primary defect on the pANdAvAs.

SVB 21"pANdavargaLaiyum nirsikka prApthamAyirukka vaithadhu dhraupadhiyudaiy mangaLa sUthrathukkAGa"

The divine decision pointing towards pANDavAs also to be killed not

being carried out is due taking cognizance of her mangaLa sUthram.

SVB 22: " arjunanukku dhUthya sArathyangaL paNNiRRum, prapathi upadhEsam paNNiRrum ivaLukkAga"

Performing the role of emissary, chrioting, delivering the Great sermon are all for her sake.

This is what thirumangai AzhwAr says in the periya thirumozhi

"pandhAr viralAL pAnjAli kUndhal mudikka bhAradhathu,

kandhAr kazhal mannar kalanga sangam vAi vaithAn' 6-8-8;

And this is another magnanimous act of emperumAn going into the annals

of His innumerable auspicious qualities -bakthavatsalan.
