Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-51 Thirumazhisaipiran, who rejoiced to have been relieved from all hurdles, now is triumphed to be a special being. “enakkAvAr AroruvarE emperumAn tanakkAvAn thAnE maRRallAl- punakkAyA vaNNanE vunnai piraraRiyAr enmadhikku viNNellAm vundO vilai” (enakkAvAr AroruvarE) Oh Lord! Is there any being in the two worlds (ubhaya vibhoothi) equal to me? I have been blessed to have you as my saviour! Emperuman asked, “Oh! Azhveer I am the one who is declared by the Vedas and the vedantha to be peerless, no one greater than me or equal to me. But now you say that you have no one to match you. How is that? (emperumAn tanakkAvAn thane maRRallAl) Oh lord you are sarvEshvaran. No one can match you in protecting one and all; similarly no one can match me in the category of the protected souls. You are the master of all but you lack a master for yourself. But adiyen is blessed with a great master so even you cannot match me. “But what about the others who have accepted me as their protector and surrendered to me?” asked the lord (punakkAyA vaNNanE vunnai pirar aRiyAr) Oh my beloved lord! I have not only surrendered to you due to your power to protect me. Irrespective of you protecting me or not I will still fall to your feet. Since I have attained this state due to your divine beauty that has permanently mesmerized me to be under you. Your soft, tender, warm, fragrant nature like a freshly blossomed flower puts me under your feet. Who other than me can really understand your pleasant nature? Will those who consider this body itself to be the athma realize? Will those who consider themselves to be independent and believe in their own efforts realize? Will those who believe in the power of the anya devathas and go at the back of them for cheap results realize? Or will the rishis who always meditate on your svaroopa realize? But what about those in the nithya mandalam, anantha, garuda, vishvaksena and other nithya sooris won’t they match you? (en madhikku viNNellAm vundO vilai) There are many who strive to attain the ultimate goal by the own efforts but I have been blessed with the true knowledge by the divine lord and hence surrendered to the divine feet of emperuman to attain my goal. “nAganai misai nampiran charaNE sharanendru nAl thOrum EkasindhayanAgi” Is my brain not precious? Talking about those in paramapadam they have already achieved the ultimate goal where is the question of them having the staunch belief in emperuman as the upayam (upAya adhyavasAyam)? They don’t need an upaya since they have already got what has to be achieved. Even if they realize the supremacy and svaroopa of emperuman still they cannot match me since they live in the world free of miseries it is me who amidst all the innumerable hurdles that prevent my bhagavat sindhanai (meditation) still have ultimate faith in you and am involved in your daily services. How can they match me? “seedhanaiyE thozhuvAr viNNulArilum seeriyarE” (thiruviruththam-79) (enakkAvAr AroruvarE) Due to all the above reasons no one can really match my intellect says azhvar. Though this seems to be a show off or words arising out of pride still since it is due to the bhagavat sambhandam it is nothing to be refrained off but warranted as necessity by our poorvacharyas.
