Guest guest
The Great AchAryAs Sri Mukundan from Singapore reminds me that AchAryAs are no less than the Lord when it comes to magnanimity. True. A month or so back, when I was talking to a fellow srEvaishNavite, he was narrating a shocking incident. One of AchArya prushA has gone to his disciple's thirumAligai for being a swami for thiruvadhyayanam. As everyone knows, this swAmy post is a proxy i.e representative one. There was another srEvaishNavite who was another swAmy. The other person was not an AchArya purushA. Therefore, the AchArya purushar demanded that a screen- be put in between them -among the swAmy's and then the food be served. This shocking incident of an AchArya who is a descendant of a distinguished lineage only goes to prove that though they hail from esteemed family, they are no match for the magnanimity of our pUrvAchAryAs. Perhaps, those who place themselves on the pedestals of ego have forgotten that Sri perumAL Himself had shared food with thiruvadi in the same leaf, performed samskAram-last rites for periya vuDaiyAr-jadAyU and periya nambi doing the same to mARanEAri nambi. No this is not a write-up on grumbling on the extant scenario but to realise the values of pUrvAchAryAs. At the cost of being blamed for repetition, I cannot but talk of Sri kUrathAzhwAn who immediately visited krmi kaNDan and gave his eyes for our darsanam. Sri nAdha-munigaL's untiring efforts to retrieve dhivya-prabhandham running thorugh thirukkuDandhai to AzhwAr thirunagari and with the help of kaNNi-nun-siRuthAmbu bringing back the great 'aruLich cheyal' in rank preference to yOgic sAsthram-s where bagawadhanubhavam can be experienced alone in sharp contrast with one and all -set the ball rolling of such large heartedness.Sri vuyyak-koNdAr who elected to follow this path should by remmebred ever for being the earliest pioneer for our sake. Can one forget the great deeds of maNak-kAl nambi, kUra-kulOthama dAsar, nam-piLLai,nanjEyar, kandhAdai thOzhappar, naDuvil thiruvEdhip bhaTTAr? These events precipitate ones thoughts on them and bring memories and tears with melancholy. Shall we try to go into a few of them? dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
