KANAKADHARAYAJNAM

 

 

 

For the first time in world history a Kanakadhara Yajnam is being

organized in the ancestral temple of Adi Sankara at Kalady from

August 17 to October 12, 2005. This Yajna will ward-off poverty and

penury from your lives.

 

 

 

KANAKADHARA: Adi Sankara went on for bhiksha during upanayanam. He

reached the house of a poor old lady who had nothing but a dried

gooseberry to offer. Deeply touched by her tears of misery, Sankara

chanted the hymn, Kanakadhara Sthavam then and there. As the 19th

sloka concluded, golden gooseberries of fortune and prosperity

showered from the sky. The house got famous as Swarnathu Mana, the

house of gold.

 

 

 

KANAKADHARAYAJNAM: The Kanakadharasthavam is getting re-recited of

the 32 renowned vedic priests for 55 days in remembrance of the 32

years of Adis Sankara's life, with the current senior member of

Swarnathu Mana as Agraja. Successors of Pazhoor Mana, the family of

Sree Sankara's maternal uncle and Thalaettumpilly and Kappilly manas,

the two families which helped Sree Sankara for the due cremation of

his mother Arya, also are participating. There will be one

Brahmakalasam everyday and eight Parikalasams.

 

 

 

VENUE: The Sree Krishna Temple at Kalady, the ancestral temple of Adi

Sankara and his parents, Sivaguru and Arya. It is said that Sankara

diverted the course of Periyar river for the darsan of Sree Krishna

to his mother in old age. Sree Sankara did the Punaprathishtha at

this temple in AD 795.

THE TALISMAN OF FORTUNE: A Talisman of Mahalakshmi Kanakadhara

Yantra will be delivered as Prasadam marking your participation. The

talisman and golden gooseberry charged with 105,600 chants of

Kanakadharashothram and processed according to the instructions of

the reversed scholar Kanippayyur Sankaran Namboodiripad will be made

available as part of the Yajna. This is specially suggested for

marital bliss and prosperity.
