Adiyen would like to add that, Namakam as its name suggests is a passage

where the word nama: or namo occurs repeatedly and makes a wonderful

impression on the listener. A chamakam is a passage wherein the word

'cha mE' meaning 'for me' occurs repeatedly as in Rudram.

See 'namo nishangiNe chAyudhimathe namo nicherave paricharayaraNyanAm

nama: kulunchAnAm pathaye namo' etc used in shrAddham.

There is a humorous subhashita about 'cha mE' reciter

'iti mE mE kurvANam kAlavriko hanti purushAjam'

meaning that the wolf of Kala (kAlapurusha) kills a goat in the form of

the man who repeatedly bleats 'mE mE'- this is for me, that is for me,

that is for me, that is a person who is very greedy meets death at the

end.
