Desikan Thirunakshathrothsavam at Thiruppullani

*Adiyen dasasya vignaapanam. By the Anugrahams of Srimad Andavan Sri

Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan Swami, the 738 th Thirunakshathrothsavam of Swami

Desikan was celeberated in a grand manner at THIRUPPULLANI SRIMAD AANDAVAN

ASHRAMAM.*

**

* The Uthsavam was celeberated for 3 days from 10.10.2005 to 12.10.2005. On

10th, the Avathaara Dhinam of sri Thirukkudanthai Desikan was celeberated

with a special Thirumanjanam to Swami Desikan accompanied by Vedha, Divya

Prabhandha, Desika Prabhandha Parayanams and Chaththumurai followed by

Dadheeyaradhanam . In the evening after Parayanams and Desika Sthothra pada

parayanams, A sahasra nama archanai was performed to Desikan with the Desika

Sahasranamam composed by Sri Thirukkudanthai Desikan. In the night also

dadheeyaradhanam took place.*

* The next day, Special Thirumanjanams to Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva Perumal was

performed and parayanathis continued followed by Chaththumurai and

dadheeyaradhanams. As for others it was "Saraswathi Pooja" there was a large

gathering of devotees from many nearby places even to worship Hayagrivan on

that day who were very happy to receive the ghoshti prasadams . In the

evening after Prabhandha Parayanam, a sahasra nama archanai was performed to

Hayagriva Perumal. As the prabhandha adikarikal swamis from Srirangam were

very sincere and wellequipped, on both the days completion of these

sahasranama archanas needed nearly two and half hours which the local people

liked very much . Dadheeyaradhanam was also done.*

* On the day of the Avathara Dhinam of Swami Desikan , in the morning Swami

Desikan Thirveethi Purappaadu was performed followed by special (really

special ) Thirumanjanam to Swami Desikan was performed witnessed by a few

hundred devotees from very far away places like Madurai, Bangalore,

Karaikkudi ,etc., and from in and around Ramanathapuram. (It was a surprise

as we thought that day being a VijayaDasami day which is being celeberated

by the Rajah of Ramanathapuram in a very very grand manner, devotees may

give priority to that event.) * *Sri Vasan, a very well known among the

Desika devotees and a person on whom Srimad Andavan and Azhakiya Singar

always shower their fullest anugrahams and who is responsible for training

more than a hundred Vaishnavites at Bombay and also at Madurai on

Prabhandham, Desika Prabhandham and Sthothra padams (he always wants to be

introduced as a humble Desika devotee and not as General Manager Canara

Bank) gave an lecture on Swami Desikan which reached and was well

appreciated by a large gathering of non Vaishnavites who attended in large

number. After that Theertha, parivatta maalai mariyathaikal alongwith a

special chakkarai pongal thaligai ( Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumalum Padmasani

Thaayaarum Amuthu Seythathu) was brought by ALL THE ARCHAKAL AND the

kainkaryaparals of Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumal Temple headed by the Temple

Peshkar( as representative of Ramnad Rajah) and Perumal Mariyathai was given

to Swami Desikan followed by Sri Hayagriva mariyathai afterwhich Periya

Chaththumurai took place. Kramappadi, Andavan Mariyathaiyum Raja

Mariyathiyum seyyappattathu.*

* On all the three days all the Archakal and kainkaryaparals of Perumal

Temple attended the Chaththumurai and were very cooperative.*

*Another speciality is that without any "KALABETHAM" all will attend and

help for the success of this Avathara Dhina celeberations.*

* Afterwards the Ghoshti special Dadheeyaradhanam was also done. All others

were also served with special chithrannams. ( As itharals of Thiruppullani

often appreciate Asrama Prasadams and openly requested for, it was nearly a

" oor chaappaadu"Which is always the Thiruvulam of Srimad Andavan.)*

* As usual, LIFCO CHENNAI, who have a special affinity on this Desikan

Sannithi, have sent "Sri Hayagriva Sthothram" booklet for free distribution.

Two other booklets --- "Sri Ayagireeva Maalai" a Tamil translation of Sri

Hayagriva Sthothram in verse form and "AARANA DESIKANIN AAYIRAM ARIVURAIKAL

" (printed and distributed by Sri Vijayaraghavan of Karur Vysya Bank, Karur

)---- were also released. All the three books were released by Sri Sadagopa

Iyengar,( advocate Ramanathapuram )President, Sri Padmasani Thayar Kainkarya

Sabai, Thiruppullani.*

* In this year , there was Perumal Kuthirai Vahana Purappaadu in view of

Vijaya Dasami in the morning and just immediately after Thirumanjanam and

chaththuppadi to Desikan were completed Perumal arrived before Ashramam and

as there was a huge crowd of devotees Perumal was in front of Desikan

Sannithi vaasal for more than 15 minutes . It was another bhagyam for all

the devotees.*

A*ll the three days Ladies who accompanied Athyapakals recited Sri Padhuka

Sahasram .*

* Sri Duraichamy Seshadri Iyengar of Srirangam who is the Desanthiri

kattalai upayadharar at Thiruppullani Ashramam sent pure silk vasthrams for

Swami Desikan and Hayagrivar worth a few thousand rupees and Srirangam

Pushpa maalaikal for Thirunakshathrothsavam (For the past several years he

is regularly doing this great kainkaryam)*

* In a very small village where everything -- from suitble Adhikaris

acharamana madaippallikarals,etc this grand celeberation was possible only

and only due to the Paramanugrahams of Srimad Andavan. No special appeals

for any donation was made except intimating the function through

invitations. But Ashrama Sishyas and Abhimanis from far and near voluntarily

and very liberally contributed because of their Acharya Bakthi and devotion

and involvement in Desika kainkaryams . As in charge and representative of

Srikaryam swami adiyenathu kruthagnaiyai kainkaryaththil porulal, udalal

marrum mudiyum vakaiyellam pangu konda perunthakaiyeer ellarukkum

vignaapiththukkolkiren. Thalaiyallal kaimmaru verillai *
