Purpose of this series of postings on Sri Abheethi Sthavam

the Kaimakryam to help raise some funds in the context of the upcoming

Thirunakshathram celebrations on Dec 10 , 2005 at Bangalore , when HH Srimath

Azhagiya Singar will cross the 79 Samvathsaram mile stone . adiyEn invites

you all to join in this kaimkaryam as sishyAs and abhimAnis of SrI Matam .

Inspite of the heavy demands of the NirvAham of Sri Matam with its many

branches and temples, with the AnushtAnams of a Raaja SanyAsi and

with finite time to be set aside for daily KaalakshEpams , with the

wear and tear

of complex sanchArams form one end of the land to the other , Prakrutham

Srimath Azhagiya Singar travels with Abheethi ( no fear ) as MalOla dhivya PaadhukA

Sevakar . He appeals to His AarAdhana Moorthy to remove our fears (Bheethi)

and grant us abhayam through His reassuring Hastha Mudhrai .

 

Swamy Desikan's Abheethi Sthavam

Swamy Desikan composed a Sthavam named Sri Abheethi Sthavam at

Sathyagalam agrahAram on the banks of Cauvery river . In this sthavam

made up of 29 slOkams , Swamy Desikan prayed to Lord RanganAtha

to remove the Bheethi at Srirangam and for the Uthsava Moorthys to be united

with Moolavar to enjoy daily AarAdhanam . Bhagavan responded to Swamy

Desikan's appeal and a local king with the name of KoppaNAryan defeated

the occupiers and united the Uthsava Moorthy with Moolavar to resume

the nithyArAdhanams at the Lord's mighty temple at Srirangam .

The Twenty nine slOkams of Sri Abhethi Sthavam are in PruTvee Metre .

Swamy Desikan composed additional Twenty One slOkams in PruTvee metre

including the ones below to make up a total of Fifty slOkams in this metre :

 

(1) The famous set of TEN DasAvathAra slOkams housed in DayA Sathakam

(2) SEVEN slOkams in Sri YathirAja Sapthathi about the Vaibhavam of

YathirAjar & his sishyAs

(3) TWO slOkams in Sri VairAgya panchakam ( the First and the fourth

slOkams )

(4) TWO SlOkams in Sri KaamAseekAshtakam ( HiraNya samhAram &

ensuing abheethi ) .

 

adiyEn will start the series with prayers to Sri RanganAthan to remove

the obstacles in completing this Kaimkaryam for Srimath Azhagiya Singar .
