Significance beyond doing 4 times the Shaashtanga Namaskarams

Dear Bhakthas,

I would like to know the significance beyond doing 4 times in particular

whenever we do the Shaashtanga Namaskarams.

Also there are some opinions among our vaishnavaites that 4 times is

followed only for Vadakalai Sampradayam and only 1 time Shaashtanga

Namaskaram for Thenkalai Sampradhayam.

Is it so?

Bhakthas kindly to clarify the same.
