As regards the position after eclipse, the darbai may be removed but the food needs to be again concecrated formally by putting a single Tulasi. This may not be necessary in India where darpai is available in plenty. When a person is performing an auspicious homa ,the pavithram is made of even number of darpais and when a karma is for inauspicious reasons, it is made of odd number of darpais This is the reason why pavithram is changed between karmas. After the karma is over, the pavithram is untied and can be reused after tying it properly. The change of pavithram is not necessary when karmas are of same nature.
