Guest guest
Dear Sri Bala : Pancha Mukha Sivan is a form of Sivan with Five faces named SadhyOjjAtham , Isaanam , Tathpurusham , AghOram and VaamadEvam . Pancha Mukha Vaadhyam with five faces representing the five faces of Sivan is a Mebrophonic Vadhyam played in ancient Sivan Koils such as ThiruvArUr in Tamil Nadu and Possibly Vadakku Nathar Koil in Kerala . You can see this instrument at Madras Govet .Museum . It is played with Suddha MattaLam in Siva PujAs . It is rare to find an idol of Pancha MUkha Sivan in a Siva Temple . ParasivAs are the ones , who are exclusive players of Pancha Mukha Vaadhyam . Your family probably comes from the Parasiva Group devoted to Temple service in the past . Hope this helps , V.Sadagopan - "S.
