Dear BhakthAs :

We left Azhagar Koil around 9 A.M and arrived at ThirumOhUr

with in the hour . ThrumOhur is 7 miles East from Mathurai

in a different direction from ThirumAlirumchOlai .

ThirumOhUr KaaLamEgha PerumAl & Mohana Valli

*********************************************************************

Here KaaLamEgha PerimAL , Mohana Valli ( ThirumOhUr Valli)

bless us with their darsanam from under Kethaki Vimanam on

the banks of KsheerAbdhi PushkaraNi. The PerumAL is prathyaksham

to Brahma and Rudran . Kethanki is the name for BalarAman .

ThirumOhUr Paasurams of Swamy NammAzhwAr

*****************************************************************

There are 11 Paasurams by Swamy NammAzhwAr and one paasuram

by Thirumangai in SiRiya Thirumadal , where he combines the Mangala

AasAsanam for ThirumOhUr with that of Azhagar at ThirumAlirumchOlai .

At the very end of His ThiruvAimozhi (TVM 10.1) , Swamy NammAzhwAr declares

that He has no recourse other than KaaLamEgha PerumAL at ThirumOhUr:

" KaaLamEhatthai anRi maRRonRilam gathyE " (ananyagathithvam) .

" ThirumOhUr Aatthan tAmarai adi anRi maRRilam araNE "(ananya rakshakathvam).

" ThirumOhUr naNitthu nammudai nallaraN nAmmadainthanamE "(MahA ViswAsam).

Swamy NammAzhwAr performs UpadEsam for us about this dhivya dEsam

to gain Moksham :

" ThirumOhUr naamamE navinru yeNNumin yEtthumin namarkAL "

The meanings of Swamy NammAzhwAr's 11 moving paasurams on

Sri KaalamEgha PerumAL are available at :

They are at the Oppiliappan archives of June 2003 ( Message0029 ).

Lord Sudarsanar at ThirumOhUr

******************************************

The description of the Vara PrasAdhi Sudarsana AzhwAr

at ThirumOhur can also be accessed there ( Messages 00024

and 00027) . This dhivya desam's Sudarsanar archai has

16 Hands and sixteen weapons in those hands . The agni jwAlais

around Him and His dynamic pose in PrathyAleeDam are mesmerizing .

One has to recite Swamy Desikan's entire ShOdasAyudha SthOthram

in front of Him to pay tribute to His full power :

sva-sanklapa kalaa kalpai:

Aayudhai: AayudhEswara:

jushDa: shODasibhir dhivyair

jushathAm Va: Para: PumAn ---SlOkam 1, ShOdasAyudha SthOthram

( Meaning) : May the Prama Purushan and the King of Sixteen

weapons serving Him bless You with all soubhAgyams and

fill your hearts with joy ! These sixteen weapons are a small

portion of EmperumAn's sankalpa sakthi .( It is indicated by the SasthrAs

that Bhagavan's sankalpam took the form of SudrsanAzhwAn) .

Further , Swamy Desikan's SudarsanAshtakam , ThiruvAimozhi 7.4

as well as Sudarsana Sathakam of Sri Koora NaarAyaNa Jeeyar

should be recited in front of Sudarsana BhagavAn . Archives contain

postings on most of them .

For accessing these messages , please use the above URL

and then go to e-mail archives section of Oppiliappan and

then and do a search against the subject of Thirumohur .

There is a wealth of Information on ThirumOhUr

dhivya dEsam assembled in the above three messages .

Hence adiyEn wont describe further the enjoyment of

the dhivya darsanam of ThirumOhur Aapthan and

Maarga Bhandhu here .

Nrasimha-Sudarsana Tathvam

****************************************

The Narasimha Moortham on the back of Sudarsanar Uthsavar

is not detatchable for seperate Thirumanjanam purposes as

at the new temple of PuzhuthivAkkam (MadipAkkam ) near Chennai .

This Moortham of Sudarsanar at ThirumOhUr is revered as

Maarga Bhandhu (Vazhi ThuNaivan) by the Truck drivers who ply

the National route passing via ThirumOhUr .

Archai of KaaLamEgha PerumAL

******************************************

Sri KaaLamEgha PerumAL has Gadhai on His lower left

hand like Lord VaradarAjar at Kaanchipuram . This KshEthram is

recognized as the place , where Mohini dazzled the asuras and

distributed amrutham exclusively to DevAs . Hence The KshEtham

is called Thiru MohUr . The PushkaraNi is KsheerAbdhi

and it reminds us of the Milky Ocean from which nectar arose

with the help of Sriman NarayaNan . ThAyAr's name is

Mohana Valli , who enchanted the PerumAL taking

Mohani avathAram once .

The archakars are very helpful at this dhivya dEsam .

This dEvasthAnam manages the administrative affairs of

Yaanai Malai Singa PirAn's cave temple . That is where

we headed next this late morning .

Yaanai Malai Narasimhar

*******************************

This is a Yoga Narasimha Temple carved out of a cave of Yaanai Malai .

It is 8 KM from Mathurai between Azhagar Koil in the North and ThirumOhUr

in the East .

Yoga Narasimhar Temple is situated on the western side of Yaanai Malai ,

a hill shaped in the form of an elephant with stretched out trunk. The temple

is in a village called Narasingam . This temple was built by a Minister of

Pandyan

King Jadiala Varaman in the year 770 A.D .The Minister's name is MaaRan Kaari .

Sthala PurANam of this Narasimha KshEthram

*************************************************************

Sthala PurANam states that the original Bhagavan appeared in response

to the prayer of Sage Romasa for progeny in the cave where the sannidhi

of Narasimhar is today . The Lord who appeared before the sage had

the form of Ugra Narasimhar and the heat from that Moortham was too

intense to bear. The sage prayed to PrahlAdhan to mitigate the heat

emanating from Ugra Narasimhar. PrahlAdhar was able to help a little .

The heat was still intense . The sage prayed next to MahA Lakshmi for

intervention .

She arrived and quenched the Lord's ugra Jwaalais . She is worshipped as

Narasinga Valli at this temple and She has a big Moolavar Mortham and Her

Sannidhi faces South at the entrance of the temple .PerumAL uthsavar

is also big in size ( 6 Feet) . Right now , BalAlayam is taking place

in the context of approaching SamprOkshaNam .

As a result of the intervention of MahA Lakshmi , Ugra Narasimhan

transformed Himself in to soumya Yoga Narasimhan form as at

ShOLingar (Thirukkadikai ) hills . The Uthsavar here is in standing form

with Gadhai and abhaya hastham . Narasimha Jayanthi celebrations

are well known at this KshEthram . Sri KaalamEghar Of ThirumOhUr

dehivya dEam visits SingapirAn on Maasi Maham day .

Thirukkoodal Dhivya Desam

************************************

After resting in the afternoon , adiyEn arrived at Thirukkoodal temple

in the center of Mathurai city during the evening . This dhivya dEsam is

Known as Mathurai Koodal Azhagar Sannidhi .The Vimanam is AshtAnga

VimAnam . Moolavar faces East in sitting posture . ThAyAr has four names :

VaguLa Valli , Maragatha Valli , VaraguNa Valli and Mathurai Valli .

PushkaraNi is Hema PushkaraNi and the Lord is Prathyaksham to

Bhrigu Maharishi , Sage Sounaka and PeriyAzhwAr.

Thirumangai and Thirumazhisai have performed MangaLAsAsanam with

one paasuram each . PallANDu of PeriyAzhwAr was born here as

PeriyAzhwAr was being taken on the back of the royal elephant

around the Raaja Veethis of Koodal Azhagar after AzhwAr won

the bag of gold thru the etablishment of the Parathvam of

Sriman NaarAyaNan . PerumAL with Parijanams appeared in the sky on

the back of Garudan and Ubhaya NaacchimArs to enjoy the sight of

His bhakthan being honored for his victory in the Raaja Sabha by

establishing His Supermacy . PeriyAzhwAr was ecstatic over

the darsana soubhAgyam of the Lord with his own physical eyes on

this earth and sang PallANDu to ward off the effects of any evil eye

that might fall on the Lord . PallANDu is a prayer for the Lord's Svaroopam ,

Roopam , GuNa and IswaryangaL to stay forever without dimunition

and for a long , long life for the Lord .

In his PallANDu , PeriyAzhwAr performed his own MangaLAsAsanam

for the Lord thru the first two Paasurams . Not being content with that ,

AzhwAr invited thru the next 3 Paasurams Bhagavath SaraNArthis ,

Kevalar and IswaryArthis to join in the PallANDu for the Lord . During

the next three paasurams the above set of adhikAris are seen to unite with

AzhwAr (Aaahuthars become sangathars). In the final three Paasurams ,

all of them unite to sing about the Vaibhavam of the Lord and His Parijanams .

The last Paasuram is the Phalasruthi Paasuram .

Here , Upanishad BhAshyakArar summarizes the Phalans from

the MangaLAsAsanam of PeriyAzhwAr's PallANDu Phala Sruthi

Paasuram : Our Lord is by nature ( svabhAvamAhavE ) Parisuddhan.

He is established in the dhivya SthAnam of Sri Vaikuntam . PeriyAzhwAr

(VishNu Chitthar ) of Sri VilliputthUr sang PallANDu to this Lord

having Saarngam as His celebrated bow.

Those who recite this PallANDu dhivya Prabhandham composed with

highest order of Bhagavath bhakthi and in the mode of Kaimkaryam

to Him by VishNu CHitthar will grant all soubhAgyams be they people ,

who have done Prapatthi or not . If they have not performed Prapatthi ,

htey will complete UpAya anushtAanam and if they have completed

Prapatthi , it will let them recite Dhvayam as long as they leave their

body here and let them recite at Sri Vaikuntam Jitham tE sthOthram

and Saama GhAnam at all times front of Sriman NaarAyaNan surrounded by

His sakala ParivAram there .

With these thoughts ringing in adiyEn's mind , adiyEn engaged in

NidhrA yOgam and got ready to travel next day to PeriyAzhwAr's

Sri VilliputthUr for the Mutthangi SamarpaNa Uthsavam .
