Guest guest
Namaskaram, This is the formal appeal with the attachment, which is how the printed appeal looks showing the temple and the Lord with His consorts. AN APPEAL SRI LAKSHMINRISIMHA PARABRAHMANE NAMAHA// On the banks of the ThenPennar River are the divya kshetrams (holy temples) of Thirukovalur, Padhur and Parikal. Also on the banks, about 10kms from the Vizhupuram highway is the quiet village of Kappur. For several centuries, the residents of Kappur have worshipped at their Sriman Lakshmi Narayanar Thirukoil. The temple stands on 8 grounds of land and has Sri Lakshmi Narayanar in the seated posture with Thayar (the goddess) on His lap. In this temple, one can also have the darshan of the Utsavamorty (Sri Varadarajar with SriDevi and BhooDevi Thayar), Sri Chakrathazhwar, Sri Vedanta Desikar, Sri GarudAlwar and Sri Anjaneya. The temple is now in a dilapidated condition. The villagers are devout farmers who fondly remember the days when the temple had 7 utsavams a year with theertha vari at Then Pennai river. Old timers and ex-natives of the village recall the mangalasasanams performed by the Jeeyars of Sri Ahobila Mutt. However, the temple is now desperately short of funds. The last utsavam was during Vaikasi theertavari in 1984. Meager pujai with naivedyam once a day has been restarted recently after a gap of ten months with thirumanjanam for the salagrama moorthies once a month. It is our endeavour to work with the villagers to reconstruct the temple after a ‘Jeernodaranam’ and consecrate it via a Samprokshanam (Kumbhabishekam). We request you to please help us in this kainkaryam for the Lord. Any and every contribution from you will help in giving fresh life to this ancient temple and the daily devotional life of these villagers. This kainkaryam is estimated to cost Rs.18-20 lakhs. A trust has been formed and registered with the Vizhupuram Taluk for the same. Contributions can be made through cheques/DD/MO favouring “Kappur Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Kainkaryam Trust” and mailed along with name/star/gothram, address, phone to “4/1017, 9th Link, 3rd Cross Road, Nehru Nagar, Kottivakam, off Old Mahabalipuram road, Chennai-600041. Thank you for your kindness and monetary help. Kainkaryam Committee. Salutations to our Acharyan and the Lord with His Consorts “May noble thoughts come to us from all sides” Enjoy this Diwali with Y!
