Guest guest
SrI Swamin namaskaram: as you quoted, at my adiyens native place, there is a temple for Lord Ranganatha which was built by earlier kings. There HE gives sEvai as Abhaya PrathAna Ranganatha Swamy. Only in this temple(as per adiyens knowledge), Ranganathar in reclining posture shows HIS right hand as Abhaya to MArkandeya maharishi. The legend goes like this: When mArkandeya maharishi was doing tapas, he was disturbed by activities of dhusta arakkargal. So he went to thiruppArkadal to seek refuge from our emperumAn. As we all know, our emperumAn is fond of saving our bhakthAs who fell refuge to HIM, on the reclining posture itself, i.e, reclining on AdhisEsha HE shows HIS right hand as ABHAYAM to mArkandeya maharishi to show that HE is there for saving the bhakthAs. The posture is like: you can think of SrI Ranganathar at SrI rangam, instead of placing the right hand under HIS head, HE stretches HIS right hand and shows ABHAYA mudra to mArkandeya maharishi by reclining on adhisEsha itself. Under HIS abhayam, one can see mArkandeya maharishi is sitting with nervous to seek the emperumAns protection. From the navel Lord Brahma was sitting. Thayar is Sri RanganAyaki thAyar at separate sannidhi. The one more beauty of this is that, since emperumAn turns little aside to show HIS abhayam to mArkandeya maharishi, AdhisEsha feels disturbed as "who is disturbing our great karumA mughil vannan, neela megham, shyamalan from HIS reclining posture" and adhisEsha also fully turns towards right to look at who is disturbing the Lord RanganAthar. This sEva can be seen on throught out the day. One never feels satisfied looking on HIM at all time. This beautifull sEva can be seen in that temple. Thats why there HE is called as Abhaya prathAna Ranganatha Swamy. THe perumAl is as beauty as Lord RanganAthar at SrI Rangam, situated at the very near banks of River Amaravathi at Karur. One more greatness of this sthalam is that, there is a elanthai tree near ChakkarathAlwar which never sleeps (i.e) it will produce Elanthai fruits throughout the year and local people called it as "UrangA elanthai" as like "UrangA puli" tree at Alwar Thirunagari. This temple is taken by Govt. Hindu Endowsment Board and is associated with the AbhimAna Sthalam ThAnthondri perumAl, Sri Kalyana Venkata Ramana Swamy at KARUR. Adiyen requests if one happens to come across SrI Rangam, or near by areas, also visit this sthalam and enjoy the beauty of this sEvai and get HIS blessings. HE is there to give abhayam from all the evils that come across one's life.
