Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Paasuram-64 "pOdhAna vittiRanji yEththuminO ponmagarak kAdhAnai Adhip perumAnai-nAdhAnai nallAnai nAraNanai nammEzh piRappaRukkum sollAnai solluvadhE soodhu" In the previous paasuram, azhvar detailed the way he spends his time, now thirumazhisai piran furthur proceeds to instruct others to spend time appropriately. (pOdhAna ettiRanji eththuminO) Submit anything that falls under the category of flowers to the divine feet of the supreme lord, prostrate his divine feet, and sing his praise all filled with bhakthi. The word "pOdhAna" indicates the secret immersed in the sastras that any flower submitted with bhakthi is acceptable to emperuman. "paRRam pushpam ..bhakyApahrutham ashnAmi" declares parthasarathi emperuman in his divine bhagavat geetha; Thirumangai mannan says, "kallAr thuzhAyum kaNavalarum kooviLaiyum muLLar muLariyum Ambhalum..puLLAi Or yEnamumAi pukkidandhAn ponnadikku" Nammazhvar says, "purivadhuvum pugai poovE" All these verses ultimately convey the same meaning that any type of flower is acceptable to be submitted to the lord as long as it is done with bhakthi. Here the Iythiham between Sri parasara bhattar and nanjeeyer is to be remembered. (ettu eRanji eththuminO) ettu-refers to physical service (kAyikam) eRanji-refers to service with mind (mAnasikam) EththuminO- Refers to service by speech (vAchikam) (ponmagarak kAdhAnai) The divine beautiful ears of the lord beautify the makarakundalam (divine gem studded earring) adorned by the lord. Gold is considered to be a valuable possession by one and all. We all pay huge cost to possess a small piece of gold similarly emperuman is such a valuable article to be praised at any cost. [Here this is just a simple comparison actually there is no comparison for emperuman -oppillA appan) (Adhip perumANai) Some articles are pleasant to look at but do not do any good to us. But in the case of emperuman he is one who created all of us. Then will that great lord accept us? (nAdhAnai) He is our master so he has to accept us. Will he punish us for all our faults? (nallAnai) He is surely our master but filled with a great kalyana guna (divine quality) vatsalyam that makes him to ignore our faults or consider our faults itself to be the reason to shower his grace on all of us. What is the proof for his vatsalyam? (nAraNanai) The very name narayanan justifies the same. (AdhipperumAnai nAraNanai) He is one who had all the worlds inside him during the srushti kalam-nArAyanan (nAdhAnai naraNanai) he is one who sustains all the narasamoohas inside, spreads everywhere and remains as the prApya and prApaga (goal and way) sarvaswami-nArayanan (nallAnai nAraNanai) ignoring the inferiority of the jeevas emperuman resides in one and all due to his divine quality. Hence he is nallAn-narayanan. (nAraNanai nammEzh piRappaRukkum sollAnai) One who overrides our innumerous birth. "sankeertya nArayana sabdhamAtRam vimuktha dukkA: sukinO bhavanthu" (just by singing the word narayana one is released from the ocean of miseries (samsara) and reaches moksha) (solluvadhE soodhu) praising him is the prime duty of all jeevas concludes thirumazhisai piran.
