Dear Raama BhakthAs :

 

Back in 1990 , adiyEn authored a 360 plus page book

analysing the mood of Parama Bhakthi housed in

the Five Ghana Raaga Pancharathnams of the great

Raama BhakthA , Saint ThyagrAja .

 

This book was released in 1990 at Chennai by Sangeetha Kalaanidhis

and MahA VidvAns , ( late )Semmangudi SrinivAsa Iyer and

PalaghAt K.V.NaraayaNa Swamy .

 

The first release copies were sold in a couple of years and

I forgot all about it thereafter and moved on to other things .

 

This year , a devout native of Tanjore , Sri B.Sreenivas , wrote to me

and asked for permission to bring this book as second release

and to use modern multimedia Technologies ( Text plus Images and Audio of

the rendering of the 5 Krithis by an eminent Musician) to enrich the content of

the first release of 1990 .

 

I was moved by the enthusiasm of Sri Sreenivas and agreed .

In a remarkably short time , Sri Sreenivas created the online

version of the e-book in PDF Format and also created the CD ROM

version of it . I was very much impressed by the quality and care

that went into this new release . This 2006 version was released

at the SamAdhi of Saint ThyagrAjA at ThiruvayyARu on His

Aaraadhanam day this year ( Bagula Panchami , Jan 19, 2006) .

 

The book is in Tamil . The CD ROM is constructed in such a way that you can

read pages , hear the music , see the notation for the krithis and appreciate

the Vaibhavam of Saint ThyagarAja as a BhagavathOtthma , who had

the bhAgyam of seeing Lord Raamachandra and his family with his own

physical eyes in His life at ThiruvayyAru .

 

The proceeds from the sale of this book has been reserved for

supporting the well known RaajA's college for Sanskrit , which is

now being managed by Bharathi Daasan Univerisy and Srirangam

Srimath Andavan Aasramam under the leadership of Professor

AarAvamudhan .
