Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

First of all my sincere apologies for the delayed response to the two mails of

sri MK Sudarsan swamy and Sri Mukundan swamy. I was tied up with official tour

away at ahmedabad and though I could read the mails, I could not draft the

response in an 'away' place due to commitments.

Thanks for both Sri Sudarsan and Mukundan swamins for their comments of "a very

wonderful one" and "very nice article well written".

Now a point in sri mikundan's response is

=> At another location in the mail there is a QUOTE: "One should wake up from

sleep at the hour known as the Brahma Muhurtham and then think of both religion

and profit." - End Quote

Thinking of profits seems contrary to what we might want to do during Brahma

Muhurtham.

Actually there is the Sanskrit slokam for this quote which reads

braahmE muhoorthE budhyEtha dharma arthou cha anuchinthayEth |

uththaaya aachamya thishtEtha poorvaam sandhyaam krutha anjali: || 16

which is translated as

"One should wake up from sleep at the hour known as the Brahma Muhurtham and

then think of both religion and profit. Getting up from bed, one should then

wash one's face, mouth, and joining one's hands in an attitude of reverence, say

the morning prayers".

In my opinion, in this slokam the words "dharma:" and "artha:" [grammatically

changed as arthou due to the dual objects in reference] have been translated "a

little below" in degree to its original word meanings or depths.

In sree vishNu sahasra naamam there is a naama 'dharma:', which when becomes

naamavaLi, and the meaning given is as below by sri bhattar

Om Dharmaaya nama: -- naamaa no.404 occurring in slOkam 43

meaning: the lord who is righteousness incarnate.

Similarly there is another naama 'artha:', which when becomes a naamavaLi it is

arthaaya nama: meaning

Om arthaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 431 occurring in slOkam 46

Meaning: the goal desired by all - invoked by every one.

With these two meanings combined and inserted as in the position "religion and

profit", then the modified reading will be

"One should wake up from sleep at the hour known as the Brahma Muhurtham and

then think of both the lord

who is righteousness incarnate' and

'the goal desired by all - invoked by every one'.

Getting up from bed, one should then wash one's face, mouth, and joining one's

hands in an attitude of reverence,

say the morning prayers".

Then I think Sri mukundan swamy will agree in toto.
