Guest guest
Namaskaaram to everyone in the group.Just joined today. We have a saligramam at home wherein as per the knowledge received from elders the pooja is being performed since the past 150 years. After my grandfather this was being done by my father and was later transferred to my Periappa who had retired. The Pooja was continued by my Periappa. Unfortunately my father expired in 1992. A week back, I lost my Periappa too. After all karma had been done by my goodself (as my periappa has no issues) and house was sanctified by Punyakalam, my Periappa's friend to whom he hands over the saligramam (when he occassionally goes out) has taken charge of the Pooja temporarily. This is because I live in Mumbai and my Periappa in Chennai. As this Pooja has been in my family for generations , I intend continuing it after I get the saligramam from Chennai. I would appreciate if learned people could reply to the following questions: 1. Is there any time / day to be seen for getting the saligramam from Chennai to Mumbai. I need to do this by train as I do not want to travel by flight as the Lord will have to be shown to everyone from security to customs and passed thro X-ray etc.. Of course train travel will result in non-perormance of Pooja ne day for which Prayaschithartham will have to be done later. 2. As I would need time to learn the process of performing saligramam pooja, is the Laghu Bhagvad aradhanakram the best guide to start with. 3. Once I get the saligramam , maybe I will pose the next question as to its identification. 4. Is the book on Panchyaatana Pooja a good one for saligramam worship? I shall appreciate everyones comments and responses Thanking everyone in advance and expecting advise at the earliest. Eswaran
Guest guest
Dear Sri Eswaran : Your dedication and devotion to SaaLagrama AarAdhanam is commendable . The thought behind Carrying the Saalagrama Moorthy by Train instead of by air is really thoughtful . Please continue with uninterrupted AarAdhanam for SaaLarAma Moorthy , which is the most easy one to do. Great rigors are needed . The AaarAdhanam is described in Sadagopan.org under the Saalagramam link. Laghu AarAdhanam is equally fine . Kaachi PeriyavAL used to say : Perform Thirumanjanam with one spoon of Milk and offer fruits or other naivEdhyam . BhagavAn in this form is most forgiving of all apachArams . He never loses Saandidhyam . You can transport the Moorthy in a special wodden box or Silver box and place silk Vasthram under the Moorthy . If you happen to go to Ahobila Matam and meet the Jeeyar , please recieve Phala ManthrAkshathai and request him to have hastha sparsam and bless your AarAdhanam . Pleae place the Phala ManthrAkshathai around the Moorthy . The experts in Ahobila Matam would examine the Saalagramam and let you know whether it is Sudarsana Moortham or KrishNa or Narasimha or others . PanchAyathana Pooja is inappropriate for SaaLagrama AarAdhanam. VishNu(Sriman NaarAyaNa ) AarAdhanam has to be done . Regarding dates for transport from Chennai to Bombay by train , You can start outside Raahu Kaalam on these two auspicious days : 1) Panguni 20 /April 3 (Monday) , Panchami , RohiNi , Mithunam 2) SravaNa (VishNu Nakshathra) dinams are good : March25; It is also EkAdasi day . 3) April 6: Sri Rama Navami Dinam is good. 4. PourNami dinam is good: April 13 . 5. Swaathi dinam is auspicious for Naraimha Moorthams : March 18 6. Panguni Utthiram dinam is auspicious: April 11. Hope this helps , V.Sadagopan Moderator - "e_iyer" <e_iyer <Oppiliappan> Monday, March 06, 2006 4:22 AM Saligramam worship > > Namaskaaram to everyone in the group.Just joined today.
