SrI Vaishnava Darshanam - Special Gallery has been Created

SrI:

Dear All,

http://www.pbase.com/svami/darshanam

With our SrI. L.Sridhar's hardwork, we have got some wonderful & rare

pictures from various divyadesams.

As the pictures of Acharyas and divyadampathi are from various

divyadesams, we had to create a new and SPECIAL gallery to arrange

these pictures.

1. The first section in this new gallery is on the 3 munigaL of

Srivaishnava darshanam.

2. The second Gallery is on SrI Hayagrivar.

3. The third one which will be uploaded very shortly (and you'll be

notified) is on Periya PirATTi.

Our Sincere thanks to SrI. L.Sridhar (sridharasrinivasan).

The picture of SrI. Ramanuja of Thondanur is reproduced in the 'MummunigaL'

Gallery again and a special note from SrI Vanamamalai Padmanabhan

svami(aazhwar) on that picture is given hereunder.

Dear Sridhar svAmi,

There is nothing much I can add from Guruparampara as you have already

added this.

The summary is as follows:

The king of that region viTTala dhEvarAyan. His daughter was affected

my mental illness .

Sri ThoNdanUr Nambi on finding this requsted Sri RAmAnuja to visit the

palace. After several requests Udayavar entered the palace and blessed

her with His srEpAdha thErtham and she got cured and was restored with sanity.

The king and his queen surrendered at the feet of EmperumAnar and

became His disciples. He as given a sreAvishNavite name 'VishNu vardhan'.

On hearing this, the jains who were the king's erstwhile guru-s, became

angry. They challenged that he should win over them in an argument and then only

take them as his disciples.About 12000 jains came for argument simulataneoulsy.

Sri RamAnuja was a bit perturbed because now He had to reveal who He was.

He sat behind a screen in the form of 1000 headed Adhi-SEshan and

gave multiple replies from behind the screen and won over them. Some

of them became his disciples.

This great event took place in thoNdanUr at the altars of nrshmha

svAmi sannidhi and here is the wonderful rare picture of

udayavar/AdhisEshan.

Thanks to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan sridhar svami.

Friends,

I have a question about Medavakam Perumal Koil Hayagreeva that has

been featured in the gallary of beautiful pictures provided by SrI.

L.Sridhar. Rather than Hayagriva, this looks to be Varahasvami

holding Bhudevi. Please note that the Lord's nose does not look

"horse-like," when compared to the other pictures in the gallary.

Also, the Lord's face does not have other "horse-like" features, such

as ears on the the top of his head, rather than at the side. He also

seems to be holding Bhudevi, based on the placement of the Lotus in

Her right hand, rather than the left hand. If the Lord was

Varahasvami, then it would make sense for Him to be holding Bhudevi.

I am not trying to point out mistakes, but just honestly airing the

thoughts that came to mind while viewing the picture. I hope that

someone can resolve my questions.

Regards,

Bob
