Gaiety marks `UGADI' at Tirumala temple

 

TIRUPATI, MARCH 30, 2006 (TIRUPATITIMES.COM)

 

Splendour and gaiety marked the Sri Vyaya naama`Ugadi' festival at the

famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near here today.

Marking the occasion, the high priests have performed Special rituals

like - Visesha padi procession and Visesha Nuthana Vastrams procession

inside the shrine.

 

Later, Ugadi asthanam of Lord was conducted by placing the centuries old

processional idols of Lord and his divine consorts Sri Lakshmi and Sri

Padmavathy adorned with diamond studded ornaments, mounted on the

Sarvabhupala Vahanam at the Garudalwar mandapam in front of the

presiding deity of lord. In accordance with the age-old custom the

auspicious `Panchanga Sravanam' was observed by the priests before the

Lord.

 

The TTD Executive Officer, Mr. A.P.V.N.Sarma, Joint Executive Officer,

Mr. G. Balaramaiah, Special Officer, Mr. A.V.Dharma Reddy and TTD Board

member Mr.B. Karunakara Reddy and TTD PRO, Mr. K. Rama Pulla Reddy were

also present on the occasion.

 

Thousands of pilgrims from all over the country have thronged the hill

temple and also had the opportunity of witnessing the celestial Ugadi

Asthanam of Lord arranged at the shrine.
