He who, having rejected the ordinance of the scriptures, follows the impulse of

desire, attains neither pefection, nor happiness, nor the Supreme Path [of

vicAra].

D. : At what stage do the scriptures become useless?

M. : When their essence is realised. The scriptures are useful to indicate the

existence of a higher power (the Self) and the way to gain it. Their essence is

that much only.
