Guest guest
om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Arunachaleswara Temple is one of the largest temple complexes in Southern India. It dates back to the early Chola dynasti (871-953 AD). It represents fire, one of the five elements and is dedicated to Arunachaleswara (God), who manifested himself as Shiva`s column of fire in the form of the Hill. The temple complex has three compound walls and nine gate-towers (gopuras) altogether. Today we enter the Arunachaleswara Temple through the main gopuram at the East side. It is with its 11 storeys one of the biggest templetowers in Southern India anda magnificant work of sculpture-art. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Next we will have a look at the thousand-pillared hall. Guest guest
Dear Janaardana Kalinandaswami, but you can do what you are wishing, right now!! I had to travel to Arunachala possibly only for the one reason: to see that all what is there is here also. I was longing for round 13 years to go there - and for 13 years I somehow thought, it would mean a special grace and blessing (it was said so). But this whole imagination was completele disappointed and destroyed! Now I see, that Arunachala in reality is not so much the material Hill (which is more of a kind of symbol or a pointer), but the deepest truth of the very own Self. This is the true meaning of Arunachala and this is also the true dwelling-place of Ramana - what a wonder, what a wonder!! So pradakshina can be done always. Nevertheless, Arunachala is a very peaceful and silent Hill, much charming. I liked it much, though I don't feel the need anymore, to go there again. We will do pradakshina of the Hill later in our visual form. Enjoy the photos. Guest guest
Dear Gabriele, I am glad you were able to go to Arunachala. I am even more glad that you found that Arunachala is your Heart, so you do not need to travel anywhere. As Ramana said, "Where can I go? I am Here."
