Guest guest
Dear David, I quite agree with everything you say on that approach. Another alternative approach is Diving Into the Heart ,my own practice. With breath restraint it is excellent for the restless mind. The method cam be found in the Sat Darshana Bhashya commentary on verses 30,31 and 32.It is based on the Eki Sloka ,Ramana Gita II v 2.This Sloka is engraved in gold on basalt above Bhagavan's Couch in the new Hall in front of his Mother's[A Videhe Mukta]Samahdi .It appears in one form or another in most of his his written works .I was told by wise folk in Tiru that when you get to the bottom of the abyss you will find nothing there .This is because the practice is being done with the mind and is brain centered .But doing it this way sets up eventually a pattern on the right side of the chest[the door way of entering the heart} where the diving then takes then place directly into the Heart where the Source lies, spontaneously and effortlessly without breath restraint..Once found, the ego topples .This practice can be short or long depending on the extent of the vasanas etc.in most cases it takes years rather than months -but who knows and who cares? This practice cuts the 'granthi knot'to which you refer in your first para .May Bhagavan's Boundless Grace be with all those earnestly practicing Atma Vichara-which ever way one may choose .Remember Self Enquiry shpuld be practiced with an untroubled mind -as satvic as possible.Surrender all problems to the Self with faith -first.Regards and best wishes, Alan > > atma_vichara, Michael Mahlman > <eclectic_mike> wrote: >The trick is to understand why > the Who am I, self inquiry process works at all. > > Namaste Michael, > > A couple of thoughts on why the process works.
