But remember it is an aid... Let me explain myself. Guilt is far worse an obstacle then a sattvic diet is an aid. I mean to say, that for whatever reasons you are unable to live a sattvic life, don't feel guilty or hate yourself for it. Just go on with whatever efforts you are making. Grace in Its turn will wash away all rajas and tamas in one flash of Love and Understanding. I speak from my own experience here. Feelings of guilt and inadequacy because I couldn't live up to the standards the ego had set up were a far bigger obstacle than the inadequacy to live a sattvic life itself. I learned to accept myself as I am, with all shortcomings and from this "what is" I ventured out on the quest. Obstacles turned into aids. I do not encourage people to indulge, but I am trying to point out that you have to start from where you are. This is a huge step in itself! Just start atma vichara, or whatever you feel inclined to, and don't be distracted too much by outer circumstances; that is what I understood. This helped me a lot. Yours always, Ben.
