Guest guest
om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meditation in Bhagavan's Old Hall has made us hungrey - but fortunately the bell just announces supper now. The dining hall is near by. We will come in through the old dining hall, where many old photos of Bhagavan and devotees are on the walls, but food is mostly served in the new dining hall. We will sit on the floor, in front of us an impressive big banana leaf and a glass of water. As soon as we have set down the ones who are responsible for serving food will come with their big vessels from the kitchen next door and in a very quick speed diverent dishes are thrown on the leaf - take care for your clothes I found that way of serving food always much amusing. There is mostly rice, a souce or vedgetables, something sweet, a soup ... and at last buttermilk. Sharp dishes are not served to Westerners, only if they ask for. You can have another helping. Food is very delicious and nourishing. One eats with the right hand which is good to deal (as long as the soup has not been served on the leaf per mistake) and it gives some fun - afterwards hands are washed at the water taps outside. Directly after eating people get up and leave the dining hall. To those who dawdle around and like to look at the many photos in the old dining hall (as myself) it can happen that they will be closed in:) But kindly one may leave then through the kitchen, which is also interesting to have a look at. The first photo shows the well in front of the dining hall and devotees collecting for meal. The well is very deep and fishes are swiming in it. The second photo shows a look through the window in the empty new dining hall. The third was taken at end of breakfast in the old dining hall. At breakfast another kind of leaf-plate was given, which is smaller and for which several leaves are stitched together artfully - but I could not find out which kind of leaf it was. There were always iddlies with souce for breakfast - coffee and milk. Now I wish all a good appetite!
