What is the truth??Why every scriptures tells different puranas and myths??What is the base??In the mean time our karunamaya Bhagawan's Brahma astram(weapon) "Who am i" insisting me to keep quiet!! But,my naughty mind always asking many questions regarding Truth behind the scriptures! My question is "Whether all our puranas are false ??or God(Self) is performing the drama in the form of puranas for the goodness of all ?? I am sincerely waiting for your valuable replies!!! Bala. Guest guest
Dear Bala, I would humbly agree with Alan's reply. One of the things i always liked about Hinduism is the way that it accommodates One Truth expressed in subtly different ways .It also allows for a hierarchy of understanding. I may not happen to believe that God is an kindly , elderly, gentleman with a long grey beard and white hair sitting on a throne in heaven ,but it might be a useful image for a child. Personally , i would say that as one who approached this Truth in a sceptical and over- intellectualized ways that Bhagavan's words completely rid me of any doubts . Moreover it is the stories about Bhagavan that have completely entranced me. Bhagavan is at the very peak of a hierarchy of spiritual Truth : Have no doubt about this ,have no doubt about this, have no doubt about this. regards, michael dillon >balachandar sankaran <ramanaozhi >RamanaMaharshi >balavisakan >CC: iam, atma_vichara, >RamanaMaharshi >[RamanaMaharshi] Scriptures!! >Thu, 8 Apr 2004 14:19:12 +0100 (BST) > >Dear friends!! > >Ohm Namo Bhagavate sri Ramanaya!! > >For the past three years,i am the sincere devotee of our >Bhagawan. Guest guest
Dear Bala, I don't know much about the Hindu puranas - but about the stories in the religion I have been brought up, which is Christianity. It is always nice to come across them. Indeed, there is no problem. The essence of all is the ONE by many names - and it is much uplifting to find the same expressed in Hinduism and Christianity or elsewhere. Many expressions - one truth .... it is wonderful! So far I know Bhagavan liked all this stories about Gods etc also very much. Yes, he liked to read them out in the Hall and even dramatisize. I am a Ramana-bhakta and likewise a Christ-bhakta ... - it can't be devided here. For long it was not understood that this could really go together and much more: be ONE, as people and also the own mind always said that it could not be - and so it brought many discussions, needless analysis and inner struggles with it over many years .... That this all is ONE - to start to understand this, was one of the big gifts sitting one evening in the Old Hall alone with Bhagavan... so what I understand he also send me back to Christ. This mind is also asking many questions - and why not? Let the mind ask its questions - and catch the ONE truth - on the bottom of it:) It is useless to supress upcoming questions - let them come out... and look to their source ... so they will silence down in a deeper understanding. Sometimes this is then found very funny This my 1 EUR-cent answer from the background here - if it is any value - ?? Guest guest
Hello all, I feel that you have to be extra careful to understand the essence of spirituality from the Puranas, what with all the contradictions etc. Often Puranas are taken too literally. Herein lie big dangers and obstacles to fast progress. I would like to say also - without intending to hurt anybody's feelings - that even amongst the Vedas and the Upanishads there are too many statements, sometimes confusing on the face of them, that are repetitive etc. The message of Self enquiry is short & will lead to least misunderstandings. So also will mahavakhyas such as: Aham Brahmosmi. I am not the doer. Your job is to perform the actions & not lay claim over the results. Brevity & clarity go together often. ....... my 2 Canadian cents. sundar RamanaMaharshi, balachandar sankaran <ramanaozhi> wrote: > Dear friends!! > > Ohm Namo Bhagavate sri Ramanaya!! > > For the past three years,i am the sincere devotee of our Bhagawan. For the past three years,i am the sincere devotee of our Bhagawan. But my poor mind is not able to grasp the valuable teachings of our beloved Guru!! It appears to me that the mind will never be able to grasp. The interesting question is does the mind at all exist? My mind is always asking more questions!! Yes. That is it's nature. Especially about scriptures!! If we take all scriptures of all religions , it is telling its own puranas and stories!!And more gods and devathas!!i am not asking this question sarcastically!! Yes. It is sets of stories. i am asking seriously from my heart!! What is the truth?? The asking of the question. Why every scriptures tells different puranas and myths?? What is the base??In the mean time our karunamaya Bhagawan's Brahma astram(weapon) "Who am i" insisting me to keep quiet!! Quiet or to seek an answer to the question. For example who is it, that is puzzled with the different puranas and myths of various scriptures? But,my naughty mind always asking many questions regarding Truth behind the scriptures! My question is "Whether all our puranas are false ??or God(Self) is performing the drama in the form of puranas for the goodness of all ?? I am sincerely waiting for your valuable replies!!! Well Ramana himself gave a perfect answer to the very question you pose. Referring to the 33,00,000 Gods and Godesses in the Hindu religion, Ramana was asked 'Are they real?" He is supposed to have replied "Thay are as real as you are". Best wishes Avril Tax Center - File online by April 15th
