Guest guest
om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya Vivarta-vada is, in essence, the theory of appearances. The classic example which might be given is that of the snake in the rope. The appearance 'snake' is dependent on the reality of the rope without 'snake' having any substance at any time, and without the rope changing in any way. In other words the rope is the 'apparent' cause which manifests the appearance of the snake as an 'apparent' effect while always remaining as it is. On the other hand parinama-vada declares that the cause transforms itself into its effect. An appropriate example would be milk transforming into curds. In such an instance there is an irreversible material transformation. --------- vada - theory > From "The Garland of Guru's Sayings" > 6.
