Then, devotion itself confers perfect knowledge. Commentary The listening, sravana, is listening to the reality, to one's identity with the Self and being That. In Upadesa Saram, Ramana points out that by constant single thought, ultimately one attains the repose of the Self, free from thought. He terms this as supreme devotion.* for, the thought of God only, to he exclusion of all thoughts, is really to think of Self, for Self and God are essentially one. Reference could be made to the earlier verses 3 & 4 of tyhis chapter where it has been pointed out that even without desiring it the devotee ultimately merges n and abides as the Self. Though the paths of devotion and knowledge are different in practice, in the end self-knowledge alone must result but pursuit of either path. [*Upadesa Saram V9] V9 When devotion does not flow like a stream of oil it is termed intermittent devotion. But it is certain to be the cause of supreme devotion. Commentary Even though contemplation of God is not steady, but only off & on, it is still called devotion. Why? This is because it leads to intense devotion, to uninterrupted meditation on God. Though single minded devotion like that of `the steady flow of a stream' is superior to broken devotion, yet the latter is bound to lead one to the highest form of devotion. ========= anu Messenger - sooooo many all-new ways to express yourself http://uk.messenger. Guest guest
Good/God Morning to all. God has created or expanded himself as the universe at the same time creates Maya, to keep the universe in action. Due to ignorance every individual starts carrying on thinking, saying and doing process to attain some thing. But when each thing is achieved the mind tries to shift to another dimension and wats some other thing. When we tries to understood mind it becomes calm and lead us to mindless state which is static which is Shiva state from dynamic shakthi state. How to understood the mind. If we tries to control the mind, it will escape, but at the same time think using the mind itself who is one now wish to understood or control the mind and that is Sprit, God with in every embodyments of LOVE. When we realise that state which is mindless state and which can be attained with the help of mind itself, only the ONE exist, which is static and which the ultimate divine LOVE. When we realise the then the next course of action of that realised person is to shower love and service to His emboments....untill the body came to rest. With Love, Alagesan. anupadayachi <anupadayachi (AT) (DOT) co.uk> wrote: RamanaMaharshi, Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs> wrote:RAMANA GITA CHAPTER 16.
