Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavathe Sri Ramanaya! This is an excerpt from Sri Ramana Vijayam (Tamil) written by Swami Suddhananda Bharatiyar published in 1932 Chapter 10 page 46 ******************************************* For some saints, a particular word becomes a mantra and attracts them to the state of samadhi. An ordinary North Indian merchant was measuring grains. Ek (one) Do (two) Teen (three) ....and so on He continued to measure and when he reached Teraa (Thirteen) he was awakened. (In spoken Hindi 'Teraa' has two meanings. It means thirteen or it means "Yours".) Even though Teraa means thirteen, the meaning "I am Yours" alone impressed his mind and he lost himself. After that, all the grains were measured thus Teraa (Yours) Teraa (Yours) Teraa (Yours) With the single thought of "I am Yours" he attained samadhi and became one with God. Thus one word abruptly sends the Saints to the state of Liberation. Even a million words cannot be equated to that single word. Which word attracted our Venkatraman in this way? **************************************************** (The author continues to write "Arunachala" uttered by a relative became the mantra for young Venkatraman.) Notes: Venkatraman is the childhood name of Sri Ramana Maharshi. Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. Who said thirteen is an unlucky number? -ramasamy
